  • Watching this video – doesn’t look like you use your left hand pinky much to fret notes – not as much as I do anyway. Perhaps I need to explore that a bit more. ????????

  • Mr. Guthrie you are a helluva engineer..keep the train ROLLIN brother! I'm digging the ride…TRAPPED! I got no clue right now,but i won't get off. THANKS A MILLION!!!!!!

  • I had to come back and watch this one again. I am trying to lighten up on my right hand. As you described, I am guilty to the "splat" when I hit the strings. HA!

  • Hey Guthrie, is there a benefit to flatter radius neck and larger nut width to chicken pickin’? I’m trying to learn on a 7.25 radius tele with a vintage spaced nut.

  • I just went with a pro reverb and narrowed all the pedals down to a select few. This series is perfect timing. Thank you!

  • Who is afraid of the bridge pup.
Neck pup is never a problem BUT the major pup for the tele is the BRIDGE.

  • Is the new Eminence speaker you are getting alnico magnets? What is the difference between a Jensen alnico blue or a ceramic Celestion Greenback? Do they both use magnets? All I know is the 12" Jensen alnico blue (whatever the model number is) sounds way better than the Celestion Greenback in a Fender amp – at least to my ears.

  • HELLO Mr. Trapp! I'm so delighted to have discovered your channel today oh my gosh. I've only seen about three of your uploads yet but I can see it's shaping up to be the most useful content for me that I've found out of ALL the YT various and sundry guitar things I've looked through for months. I'm pretty stoked right now. I have no idea who you are professionally or what all you've done, but I'm thinking it's a LOT. Anyhow, not to diminish others efforts – I have learned a lot of cool stuff – it's just the way you talk about theory, and technique I understand, and the music coming out is what I want to make. So that's a hard combo to beat, man. I don't think you could get rid of me at the moment with a shotgun , lol so – gonna go woodshed the 70 other vids and be right back. Don't go and wear the neck offa that thing in the meanwhile, ok? Might need it later. Cheers

  • Thanks GUTHRIE…Great series….been playing my whole life and I am always amazed how I can always keep learning something new…never ending. You are such a natural. (Eyes on your fingers)…I really liked the discussion of where the guitar sounds good….I agree and thats where you want to play!!!. I just wanted to get one clarification on your triad session. I understand the notes in some chords don't fit a pure Maj or Min pentatonic or diatonic approach. But you said it yourself you have to be playing in the key of the song. So my take away from your lesson was make sure you know when notes are being introduced with which chords and be sure to target those notes within the same key as the song. So short of a song literally changing keys, all the chords associated with a song are in the same key as the song…do I have that right?

  • Finally a working guitarist who has played in live situations for a living to cover a variety of tones not a bedroom player with a wall of amps guitars this guy knows what its about !!

  • Agree with everyone here who's saying don't worry about the video quality. They're great as they are and very very helpful. Loved the one on Knopfler-style string bending.

  • I’ve always achieved better tone by holding the pick that way too. Thank you for verbalizing the benefits of it. Congrats on your sobriety, btw!

  • Guthrie: this is right on time. I’m in the market for an electric and I’m torn between the 335 and Tele sounds (I’ve only got cash for one). Thanks much for helping me hear some of the differences and for demoing that app.

  • Such good info. You mentioned phrasing…perhaps you could focus on that in one of your upcoming clips. Thanks so much.

  • I struggle with sobriety. Playing helps to take my mind off of drinking. Your videos help my playing. I can't say thanks enough.
