  • I have a 1966 EBO, it was my first bass I got for my 13th birthday, 45 years ago it was used. Even though Jack Bruce usually used the EB3, I got it because of him and Felix Peppalardi. At the time I had the choice of the used EBO or a brand new Grabber, we did not have a lot of money and the Grabber if I remember correctly the Grabber was about 3x the price and I did not want my dad spending that kind of money because he was buying and amp also, a small Solid State head with a 15' cab, heads long gone but still have the cab. Out of all the basses I have acquired I never get rid of the any. Out of all the basses that I have when I am home practicing I always pick up the EBO before I stop, it is so fun to play and I like the sound, it's a funny bass, people love them or hate them. Although I think about it now, I would love to have a Grabber but you can't have them all and you can only play one at a time.

  • I went to a store that only sells vintage gear. I thought I would be testing, and buying, a Danelectro shorthorn, however, while trying out the Dano, I spotted a Gibson SG bass in excellent + condition. Once I picked it up I was impressed by the balance and light weight. The sound is exactly what I love the best – I know, the Dano would never be in that category. I have many upscale basses but the SG has become my #1.

  • Why do all bass demos invariably sound shit. The stuff being played makes it impossible to assess the characteristics of the bass!

  • I bought one of these a few months ago and I absolutely love the sound. I’ve owned 29 different basses with many different sounds of their own. None of them sounds like this. Of coarse having a monster pickup right at the base of the neck does that. I purchased one of these because I wanted a growling retro 60’s sound, but not from a p or j bass. I love p & j basses, but the SG absolutely has it’s own feel & vibe that I have not had with my other basses. It’s a fun bass, I’m happy I have one in my collection.

  • Is it worth the extra money for the Gibson instead of the Epiphone?

  • Original grabber 3 was the best bass they ever did…
    Also victory was underrated.
That mudbeast isn't bad, but I think theres a reason those big neck t-bird pickups arent too common anymore.
    =/

  • t bird pup make higher notes on short scales thin and bland. I replaced my SG bass neck pup with an Artec 30k mudbucker. Then you get density higher up too and more character
