  • You should be aware that you are using a Piccolo-Bass. It sounds one octave above regular bass-tuning(!). It may sound more bassy than your average guitar due to the lack of overtones of the rather substantial flatwound strings.
If you dislike rubber-strings but demand true bass-tuning on a U-Bass, you do have the option of using strings by german brand `Pyramid´. They offer strings with a silver plated copper winding on a nylon core. Steelstring feel, but low tension will not harm the instrument. They will improve the acoustic volume, intonation and coherence of volume among the strings. Those strings will change the sound significantly as they produce lots more overtones. In the US they might be available via Kala. Easy to put on any u-Bass.
Lately they developed a set of black tape nylon strings for the same purpose.
Anyway, thanks for the review and keep up the good work!  Cheers, Stephan
