This year marks two huge anniversaries for Green Day. They defined an entire era of pop-punk with their 1994 major-label debut, Dookie, then did it all over again 10 years later with the punk-rock-opera American Idiot. This year, Idiot turns 20; Dookie is 30.
To celebrate the milestones, Green Day has been blasting through stadiums across North America playing both albums in full, back-to-back, with a few odds and ends from their 30-plus years together, plus choice hits from their 2024 record, Saviors. It’s a ton of ground to cover—especially considering each epoch seems to have different and defining sonic characteristics. The guitar and bass tones on Dookie alone are the subject of amp mods, guitar pedals, and signature guitars.
At the band’s Nashville stop at GEODIS Park, techs Darian Polach and Gabe Monnot, who manage the rigs of bassist Mike Dirnt and guitarist Jason White respectively, took Premier Guitar’s Chris Kies through the rockers’ gear wardrobes for this mammoth tour.

Any artist who has their tech do their rig rundown is a scumbag.
This may be one of the most boring rundowns of all time.
Crazy that i played with Mike in a side project, been in his home, been in Billie's studio and I can't remember any of these bass guitars even though I thought I'd recognize them all. Tipical drummer.
Fender should do an American Idiot Anniversary edition of the Mike Dirnt Signature in that Red Sparkle finish. I'd buy it.
Shame
9:17 I had designed a finish a bit ago like this I called Nightmare Burst, not knowing about this finish. I had another idea for a finish before that, not knowing that ESP did the finish in the 80’s. Pretty comical.
Who's Jason White???
I'm still a fan of Rock Music and Green Day, i don't care if somebody says rock is old, green day is old i don't care, no one is as fucking cool as those dudes and rockers are still the coolest humans ever male or female. BUT AGAIN I RESPECT EVERY GENRES AND ARTISTS OF MUSIC WHETHER FEMALE OR MALE. SOLO ARTIST OR BANDS
Look at the state of the rig he's looking after! Those pedals are dirty as hell, his cabling is crap, stakeboards and clothes and crap dumped on the guitar rack.
He knows his stuff but no expert for that level.
He knows f/all about Marshall's.
Off the drugs and do your job boy.
I'd sack him
Sloppy
This was needed
What that amp on top behind you? Egnator?
They had different roadies last time
Hans was framed. Hans did nothing wrong!!
That sunburst 335 reminds me of my first really great guitar. I miss it.
Earth to all rockers, it’s still cool to have a whole back line of cabs sitting on stage pushing all that air. To see them just adds to the experience visually. Kinda like two ampeg 8×10 stacks on either side of drummer and two Marshall full stacks on either side as well all with heads turned on turned up and pushing air!!!!! It can be any brand you prefer I just really find that Ampeg 8×10 cabs always sound good no matter what amp head you use, and Marshall 4×12 cabs are absolute workhorses as well and sound good with Fender, VOX, Orange, Marshall, Peavey, Boogie, and Soldano amp heads.
I am so glad you addressed the gum
Figs
ernie ball but cobalt or slinky ?????
Why is Jason even playing on Dookie songs? That era comprised of one guitarist, Billie.
I really wish Green Day was more a trio again live.
This is what yall get for cooking Hans in that last video cause he was doing a service and yall were being entitled. Hans didn’t ask PG. PG asked hans.
23:06 now i know where's the acoustic sound come during boulevard of broken dreams
i like the other rug rundown more…..this one needs fresher breath.
I came for the gum
Do a Bruce Springsteen rig rundown. See if you can't get in touch with The Boss.
How you not gunna do Bille's gear man?!
So this was all an ad for those wireless packs
could you do sum 41 rig rundown ???
What happened with showing Billie Joe’s guitars
i was hoping you guys would do a video for them this tour!!!
Lots of signature shit for a band that hates America. Oh the irony
Mike Dirnt's new tech sounds way more into it than his last one; last tech sounded like he hated his job.
Tha sparkly gold Precision is a Fender Player model repainted. Wow!
What happen to the chew gum tech?
This Channel is Superior!
Please do one on billies rig
So cool that Mike’s tech used to tech for Dan from Alkaline Trio, the best band ever.
No Billie Joe Guitars? ????
Hooray! Love pro war poser punks,do they wear tampons on stage?
I saw them at Hershey Park.. and Holy Hell the Bass sound was SO Treble based. You need to Not have it at 8.. back it down to like 7 or 6.5… There are way too many mid and treble based frequencies on that stage competing. He went into Longview and killed everyones ears with an ice pick. It was laughable. I've never been to a show where it was That thin of a bass tone.
Booooooo
Mike is a tone chaser, he's like Eddie Van Halen on bass
Green day are traitors to America.
Why are they touring in September? Aren't they supposed to be asleep?
Why are these guys still playing?
i cant watch the other rig run down i cant deal with the gum …man made it impossible to watch ..and fuck i wanted tl watch it
Billie has different guitars on this tour. For example the white Jr that was used on the American Idiot tour. Just to name one.
Now do the Wiggles.
