The hat has got to go.
Nice Marty
Heard this in Peter Framptons solos on his “Do you feel like we do” song and had to learn it
Man! Really opening my eyes and fingers to possibles! Now to put it to use!
when you get dorian mode down….things become musical and not so " scale " sounding , if that makes sense .
????????
This is a bit of an eye opener for me Marty. Great stuff!
Thanks again Marty. Well explained as per usual. Great lessons thanks its making a huge difference.
Why does it call A Dorian? When I hear C Dorian does it mean I am in a key of B flat major?
Can someone explain Dorian to me like I’m a 10 year old
I learned nothing. All you did was show off on this one!
Marty is the best! I’m always the better for watching !
Hi Marty, student/fan for while now.. so I understand the C scale and since the 2nd note in that scale is a minor D what mode or scale is being played starting the A note ? 5 fret
Omg this is Marty Schwartz
Lol/ Catabum chichi !!
Hi Marty. I think you are a talented guitar player and I have enjoyed your videos. However, you seem not to know that the 7th tone in a harmonized scale is a diminished chord. In the key of "C" for instance the 7th tone is a "B" note so you would play a "B" diminished chord. Since every note in a diminished is the root, The "B" diminished chord is also a "F", "D", and "Ab" diminished chord.
thank you! it really helps me
This scale is so rich, and sounds more jazzy than bluesy lol
I’ve been watching your videos for 10 years and I think you do the best job out of anyone…That jam during this video was super groovy. Thanks!
Dude! I finally got it!I have always wanted to know how dorian fit and you did it bro. its all in how you teach it. Thanks
Marty please do a video on the Japanese in sen scale!!!!! I recently found it and it is very cool and different
Awesome improv!
Trying to tighten my hear to recognize all the modes. Great video..props.
oh yes in our country or B we say H
A Dorian is the same scale as E minor. That helped me more than the fact that G major and A Dorian are the same scale
Is it just me or does he always look high????
i like dorian scale.i actually made my minor scale here is example A,H,C,E,G,G#,A its very blusy
Thank you, great lesson. For jazz or Santana music, really helpful
The point was made that index finger on A is our "favorite position" for A minor pentatonic, agreed. But is pinky on A really the "favorite" position for Dorian? If you had to play it only in one position all day, wouldn't the index finger on A also be the favorite position?
Damn he was goin in when he was soloing to that track jeeez
God Bless You man
Damned! It sounds like The Doors!
I know it works, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what Dorian scale works with what key. In this lesson you use a G Dorian over Am. What Dorian scale would you use over Dm? C Dorian?
The way I always looked at the Dorian Mode was it was the relative major scale to the minor key a song was in….essentially the same notes, just more of them.
Robby kreiger did this a lot. Also Terry Kath in 25 or 6 to 4
That's one sexy amp tho
Does not sound blues that mayor souds like western
so you are playing in A dorian?
Hey man! Thank you soooo much, you explained to me in an understandable fashion what i knew how to do but couldnt quite fully grasp. Much thanks to you, jdarks and the old school jeff lewis GD tab site, you guys made me the player i am today…and nothing brings me more joy than noodling around on my guitar!! 🙂
Sounds great!
You are the absolute best out here, thanks.
thanks marty
You are a god
so if the a dorian mode is the g major scale, is the c dorian the a major scale?
My name is Dorian ayeee
Easiest way I found to think of it is just up the 6th interval of the minor scale so it has a "major 6th". Fits really well over the dom 4 chord
