Hey guys and gals. Here’s a Harley Benton that’s trying to be a slightly more upmarket Cabronita. It even has a cool reverse headstock! Roswell filtertron looking and sounding pickups.

  • How did you find the reverse headstock affected the playability/slinkiness and tone compared to a conventional headstock?

  • Hi, are the pickups alnico 2 or alnico 5?
Because I saw that Roswell does both, with the same product code I read in the guitar specs

  • That Blue LP on the wall is gorgeous. Is that all stock plastic, or did you swap the white for black?

  • What you need to know about Harley Benton Guitars is, it's a bit of a lucky bag as their quality control can be rediculious..

You'll want to change those Tuners for starters, as all the ones that come with all the Harley Benton range are rubbish…
The don't engage properly & are terrible for keeping in tune…

Check the finish on your guitar incase you've been given a B Stock Guitar instead of an A Stock one, as they've done that little naughty trick a few times…

Check their pick ups & that they'll suit you for what your doing as a lot of their picks aren't that great, so make sure you check the picks on the guitar your thinking of buying are built with certain materials…

A lot of the things i could write you shouldn't have to check, like any bow or tow in the neck/laquer finish/fret finish as most times they're ok but at the moment they have been a bit of a mixed bag & have used the excuse of they've moved to a new factory…

Just take into consideration that you may or probably will have to eventually update some things on the guitar sooner rather than later…

And if you have to return it then stick to your guns & don't let them put you off as their customer service isn't that great either, but hey that is what you get when you buy a cheap budget guitar…

Some of them are good but most are quite bad… I am in no way trying to put you off but to school you on what to expect & if you ever have to call them outside of Germany don't believe them when they say their calls are at a low rate as i was hit by a massive phone bill, as I was being ignored when contacting them via email so I had to phone them…

  • Thanks Nick in the States, I'm looking at one of these right now for my 55th Bday. Gonna buy a tele style, but lots of options out there now. I've always liked the clarity of the Grestch style pups. I play blues, mostly clean with just a little crispy around the edges from either a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or my Laney Cub 212R big old combo. So it was nice to hear it out of your Mesa, because I have the 6L6 on the top shelf, and the EL84's down below. I live in Germany, so I get first crack at some of the stuff closing out over here, and that was what happened with the Cub212R Combo. It's one of the last that were made in the UK before shipping the manufacturing off to China. Great amp!! Clean, not quite Fender, and dirty not quite Marshall, somewhere in between. But I loved it so much, that last time I came back home to the US to visit family, I bought one of the Laney Cub12R, made in China versions through Amazon and had it shipped to my Sister's house and brought a Vintage brand Tele and my Squier Deluxe Strat along with me. lol just pulled off the necks and stuffed it into my big suitcase. Let's see you do that with a Gibson lol. I spent 2 months back home eating all the Mexican food I could get my hands on (no mexican food here in germany) and playing and enjoying the instruments I brought with me. I left them there, when I came back to Germany, and so now I'm without a Tele. But at least I don't have to do laundry as often the next time I go back home, because I can load my suitcase up with more clothes!! Anyway, thanks for the video, I think I will be getting the HB. Love the fact that you do low cost guitar demos. Not all of us can afford the more expensive US made stuff. Would love to see your reactions to the Laney Cub series amps. 2 12AX7 preamp and 2 EL84 power tubes, with two separate inputs, a 15w that will peel the paint off the walls and make your neighbors angry, and a <1w that is more than adequate for in the house playing. Reverb is digital, but a very good sounding digital. Vol. Gain and Master Volume, so you can drive your tubes harder, without getting evicted. The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did, like the HRDx has, is a standby switch. I can live without it for 400 euros less. Well I guess I better jump over to the Thomann page and buy my bday present. Thanks Nick, This is Bob in Germany, and yeah, I have issues too….

  • Honestly I think I like what I see from this more than an actual telecaster, especially in terms of looks. 2 humbuckers, master volume close to the bridge for volume tricks, yeah. Seems more my type guitar in a t shaped body. Just wish they'd add more finish options on this exact model, instead of just the vintage style looks.

  • Nice assortment of clean and driven tones. I expect this guitar to arrive in a few days. Funny the comments on playing, tuning, repetitive style, etc. I did not come here to listen to the musical performance of the year. Ha. I Just need to hear the tones and get your honest advise. Anything else is just bonus and has nothing to do with my decision to purchase or pass. Just crazy stuff, "play better Nick"! Ummm… OK?

  • Can you tell me what brand of Les Paul deluxe copy that is hanging over your right shoulder? I’ve been looking for a decent knock off and can’t really find one.

  • Thanks for showcasing the clean sounds, which are very nice. So many guitar demos use so much distortion you really have no idea what the guitar itself sounds like. I just joined the HB club about a week ago. Starting out with an acoustic, a nylon string, and one of the cheapest Tele's. We'll see where it goes from there. Have my eye on this one.

  • Do you still have and like this guitar? I dig it except for the reverse headstock. I have a neck I could put on it if it takes a standard fender neck.

  • I cant recall seeing one on this channel or any of the other Harley Benton channels out there but does anyone know if they produce a Nashville three pickup type tele? I think that would be very popular especially with you great players from the USA.

  • Hey Nick in the states, Karl here from Ireland ???????? I really enjoy watching your videos and I own a few Harley Benton guitars myself after getting hooked about 3 years ago. Ok question time… what's your favourite Harley Benton Guitar to date or do to have a top 2 or 3 favourites. I'd love to know, thanks a lot and keep up the good work
