Guitar Solo on a Bruckner Symphony? ???? #jazzguitar
Here’s a bit of my solo from our concert, playing Bruckner’s 6th Symphony arranged for big band. Does Jazz guitar solos on symphonies make sense? This was a lot of fun to do (and a lot of hard work). I feel lucky to play with a great band like Konrad Koselleck Big Band. The section I solo on is a modulating uptempo form towards the end of the one-hour-long 6th symphony.

My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

I love watching your lessons, and occasionally a little something rubs off, perhaps. But I just don't get this stuff here. In this big band context, the 'classic jazz guitar tone' just sounds so boring to me. Also (to me) the overall sound of a big band most often comes across as a caricature of itself. I know that's true of practically all genres of music, but I find myself longing for a melody far too soon.
Before people jump on me, can I remind the internet that in all art "good taste is what you like"! 🙂
This kicks so much ass! More. Please.
Sounds great Jens!
Yeah, that's pretty much how I woulda dunit.

Guitarist is just showing off his great technique but it's not a tasteful solo, he leaves no space ????
