Guthrie Govan – Hans Zimmer – Modelers – Wood – Guitar Tone
I attended a Guthrie Govan Guitar Clinic in Dubai. I deleted the full video by mistake, so I collected what the small clips that were left on my phone and put them in this video. I asked him about his opinion in modelers, tone wood, guitar tone in general, his @LaneyAmplification cab, his @fractalaudiosystems fm9. he talked about @HansZimmer . sponsored by Thomsun music.

The tonewood statement is a case closed. The internet has given voice to a massive amount of idiots who swear that they have the answers to everything.
pandemic : me doing what i do anýwaý, but not feeling bad about it ????
Happy to live in this era with such a genius.
When Zimmer called this guy and arrogantly asked him to replicate the sound of a thousand bagpipes or sand?…he should've told him to f off with a capital F…the guy's a guitar player, not a mere 'sound grab'…. just saying!
If you think that was impressive? you should hear me turning my sound into a fart in a tin bucket.
Not only is Guthrie an amazing guitarist, but he is one of the world's best. That all being said, he has the voice and humor to make motivational tapes lol. I could listen to him talk and never get bored.
I love Guthrie hard time but why is almost every guitarist want to sound like they play on a keyboard ?
Nice!
Now take your fractal unit and 3 guitars: one is a cheap one made, hopefully, of some wood, one is a Govan model, and one is a very expensive choice. All of them with the same strings, type of pickups, and same pro setup. Now imagine Mr. Govan recording one of his tricks, no video, just the recording. Can you tell me which one is which or the difference in wood from them? Short answer is no, sorry. Expensive and exotic guitars don't sound better; they let YOU play better.
If anyone knows… this guy knows. He is the wizard.
Were can i watch full video ?
Guthrie just casually turns his guitar into a violin.
Absolutely mental.
His tone starts right HERE!
Thanks man!!!
Remember, Leo Fender picked woods based on them being readily available locally and being inexpensive.
I don't know what so good about this guy
Type of wood and type of guitar construction, also make a difference in tone.
This is what I’m really interested in hearing. The philosophy of guitar playing. I don’t need Guthrie govan to teach me about picking or a c major scale. Lots of people can do that. I wanna know the other stuff.
Why would you cut off the amazing violin playing?
Kick out the jams or get off the stage.
Love him but he's incorrect about the wood debate
Awesome. I have 2 typewriters that I can only use…..Washburn N4s and early N2s have both…its weird but its home to me. Also my strat from time to time but when I found stuff that works….which i have, ill never ever part with them
So that is a classic Floyd without fine tuners. Pretty cool.
what's the signal path? is he using anything to power the cab?
Thank you for posting this video. I'll take all of the Guthrie I can get! ????????
"This is the only typewriter I can play…" YES! Anything that can increase the sonic soundboard of your 'typewriter' is absolutley worth pursuing!!!
