Guthrie Govan’s BEST live solo?! (“Man of Steel” w/Hans Zimmer, 2024 US Tour Opening Night)
On the opening night of @HansZimmer Live’s 2024 US Tour, Guthrie Govan pulled out this massive, beautifully crafted solo during “Man of Steel.” Being that it is a @fractalaudiosystems-powered tour, I saw many of Guthrie’s solos — each was different. This particular one is without a doubt one of the most stunning improvised live guitar solos I’ve ever witnessed. Zimmer was so excited to see it that he had to pull up a chair and see firsthand what this genius virtuoso was laying down, which he did each night of the tour.

Did you know that Guthrie and Hans argued whether Hans Zimmer's tour really needs a guitar player (one of Guthrie's interviews)? My impression: Tour probably did not necessarily need a guitar player, but Hans Zimmer wanted to listen to Guthrie Govan play improvised solos in each concert.

The phrasing, the vibrato, and the way he seems to effortlessly traverse the neck creating melodies within the chord structures are what make him the best IMHO
