Harley Benton B-450 Progressive Series: https://www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_b_450_white_progressive_serie.htm

Hey everyone! Today we’re reviewing the Harley Benton B-450 from their Progressive Series. Harley Benton produces a huge array of cheap basses, and this B-450 is one of their best sellers. Featuring big specs and a small price tag, this active ace-of-bass checks all the boxes on paper. But how does it perform? Let’s find out!

This bass and all my other basses with rounds are strung with SIT Foundation Nickel Plated Stainless Steel 45-105(125) unless otherwise noted. Check them out at https://sitstrings.com/

  • Good morning. Do you think that can be used in gigs? I play gigs over the country with a Ibanez SR600 and I want a backup bass. What do you think? Thank you very much

  • Have their PJ-74 (and 2 of their guitars) and looking to get a 2nd bass for leaving downtuned (I'm lazy). Between this, the Sterling Ray4 and the Ibanez SR300E, what would you recommend for the price?

  • Did you notice how low the volume is on this one? I have two passive Squier basses and they are way louder. I tried to raise the pickups but they wouldn't go up that much.

  • Got the 5 String version of this recently after starting on a crappy 70 euro ebay bass. I love the amount of tone options you get for the price and find that it plays really nice, though I'm more of a rock/metal player and don't have much interest in learning how to slap

  • What would you recommend between this and the harley benton jj45op? I really can't decide!
I mainly play rock/metal finger and pick styles.

  • Nice review!!
I have a question: can I buy this string bass for drop B/A, and if so, what string gauges should be bought.

I'm a metal guitarist, so I don't understand if you can go lower with a 4 string bass without breaking the neck, or better buy a 5 string one????????‍♀️

  • After watching u play, i think that extra chunk of neck is the slapping fret…u were right on it.

  • Which one should I get between this and the new JP-55? I don't intend on playing metal with it but… yeah, why not actually? As I'm not familiar with bass pickups, are humbuckers alright for pop/rock music?

  • Your runthough convinced me the bass sounds really good, except for a couple of the extreme settings. Then again, it might just be the erratic sound quality that is a feature of YT. Turns out if you go to the HB website, they have the bass in a few different finishes. I went with the QTB version, which looks really nice in the picture. I hope it looks that good when I open the box. Shipping wasn't that costly, so I just went with it. I'm looking forward to playing the B-450.

  • Jackson's starter models are at the same price range as harely benton's (when you factor shipping), it would be nice if you could review them too.
i just picked up a jackson minion – as you said in your review it is a fun little bass and the build quality is very good.

  • dang those are some fantastic sounds out of that bass. that preamp sounds super usable without overpowering or cutting too much. even without the preamp it's got some really nice tones, deep and clear and defined. I was eyeing one of these up a while back but couldn't justify the shipping for one bass. I'll keep this one back in my mind again.
