Yeah Andy is crazy. Followed him on IG like 6 years ago- refer to him when I want ridiculous riffs on a Suhr axe.
That's humility for you folks. A guy that himself is one of the top session guitarists ever and who has been making his living since at least the mid 80s playing music, making a video about another really great guitarist pondering if he is actually the best alive. That deserves a bunch of likes and new subscribers IMHO.
That was great and very motivational, thanks!
Awesome stuff, guitar player friend (he and I both old) would really appreciate this on a cd, id live to get it for him, looks like only Apple music? Are cds available for us old guys?
Just came back to watch this over again, This is such great video and I love how you take us on a journey trough the entire video. This is so well done!
This is cool he did an instrumental version of Rooster.
Another fantastic Suhr artist is Ian Thornley!
Shoot the sun down , very King Crimson vibe
In the beginning = rooster?
Tim, John Jorgenson is also an unbelievable guitarist as you know before he started touring with Elton John, he was on many Nashville hits and with the award-winning Desert Rose band and the Hellecasters. he also happens to professionally play clarinet , saxophone, pedal steel, bass, piano…
I am confused wasn’t the first song Alice In Chains
As a bass player, learning and studying Tom Kennedy (Sterns bass player) his speed and accuracy is like no other (imo)
nice take on alice in chains with that first one… basically playing layne staley's vocals…and brent is sick good..
Tim, how you feel about Trey?
Great video Tim
There are a Lot of "best" players, Manuel gardner fernandes from Unprocessed, Greg Howe from Darwin, Mancuso… all monster players
He is unreal! I actually saw him and Guthrie Govan together at tone merchants in 2005 ish? Glad for both of their successes. Nice work Tim. Get Shawn Tubbs on sometime, he is ridiculous and in this league of guitar heroes…
Best interview yet. Big thx Tim
Tim, is that a c. '72 Sansui reverb unit next to your TT? Brings back memories.
I’m hands down the best guitar player in my living room today.
That was Steve Morse's Tumeni Notes in his speed demo. So cool.
I hear some Dream Theater in Masters Gracy's Manor.
Great teaching point about practicing and forcing-working up to real tempo. I like using Guitar Pro speed trainer to cycle up to an above desired tempo for this. It's work, but practice is work and should also be fun while producing real results.
Been following him for years for the wisdom and constant streams. Highly recommended!!
Andy is an amazing guitarist.
Tommy Emmanuel, Mancuso, Sharkey, Albert Lee, the list goes on ….
Totally agree w/Andy. His country chicken picking background as a young man results in some monstrous chops beyond measure. As well, his span of genre's, supremely good taste in knowing when to hold back, develop a great melody and sonic textures and when to unleash a bit is just masterful as anyone I have ever heard of to date…and I am old and have heard most if not all – Matteo Mancuso is also a fav of mine too!
i like you comments on speed…..the solo in Led zeppelin Heartbreaker is prooof…sloppy playing over your head can still get you rich and famous
Andy wood is a whole different beast love everything he does for the guitar community! your content is awesome glad i found your channel
That's my favorite Alice in Chains song
He does what you say, Tim: start with a simple melody, vary it a bit, then a burst of speed, return to the theme and conclude. Great guitar players. Great restraint. Both of you.
Holy shit……????
Andy's number 1 instrument is the mandolin btw.
Mix Country music , with Vinnie Moore and Jason Becker, and you have this…
