  • Lee and Pete:
Thank you so so much for making this video. I happen to own the original Katana Go. While watching your video where you hold up the newly designed Katana Go together with the Fender Mustang Micro Plus, I couldn't help but notice the potential BIG KNOB problem on the original Katana Go. I wonder, maybe just maybe, that Boss had to change their original design due to Fender telling Boss get rid of the BIG KNOB on your Katana Go or we'll see you in court. Anyway, please, all readers, this comment is pure speculation on my part.
On a different note, I noticed towards the end of your video that Lee made a comment regarding something like "what are we comparing these items to?" I came up with a thought, why not include (in these types of videos) which manufacturer offers the best warranty? Personally, I will lean more towards a purchase from a manufacturer who (a) has been in business for a LONG TIME and (b) one that has the best free warranty and (c) one who has the best customer service rating.

  • i just want amp models for 90 bucks , flamma 20 i know people dont wanna put effort in , but tuning the effects is the moneys worth so have the dedication or pass on a hp amp . i love the input gain feature , as it affects the guitar tone knob i just go slightly below half , -0.5 and roll a hint of amp volume down to get clipping btw , 23 overdrive and distortions the only downside is marshall 800 or vox 30 cab be a bit flat on gain , so input gain in the app and tone knob playing around are a must. But the amps are so loud, its like a sound system. im tyyy in the flamma app check out my presets if you like. if someone would lend me a fender or katana i might have a better view but i just like the flamma 20 its 30 bucks cheaper with more amps

  • Not to be "that guy" but the big character on the Katana is not "D". It is the Chinese character for the Japanese word "Katana".

  • I shall wait for the Spark Neo and see the reviews , these are very useful gadgets when you wake up at night while your wife is sleeping, and the guitar Gods are calling you ????

  • Hi again. How about an ‘X vs Y’ video where beforehand you use the apps to try to dial in the best sounds you can, say for a set number of genres (classic country tone / classic rock tome / 80’s metal tone / alt rock tone / etc)? If you dialled in one device one day, and another the next day (or, something like that), then you wouldn’t be trying to match them and when you came to compare them later for the video, it might be interesting / informative, and more of a ‘what they can really do / how they really compare’ kind of result?

  • Hi. I bought the Mustang Micro Plus, basically because that’s all that was available at that time. I’m really happy wth it. It records really well (although, they probably all do). I agree the presets need tweaking though. I wonder if the overcooked presets many brands feature are for sales / marketing – meant to “wow” potential customers when they first try one or new owners when they first use one?

  • I’m Confused. How are they hooked up to their interface? Is there a way to remove the headphone jack or something?

  • I got a katana go. These devices are amazing for those with small children. When you can only practice late in the evening once the little ones are asleep, its nice to just practice withiut worry of waking them up

  • They each have their signature sound. I prefer the roundness of Boss but that's me. Just sounds happier but the Vox isn't bad either.

The Boss also has compatibility with YouTube backing tracks, the Boss wireless footswitch, and it has a bass guitar mode.

  • The gen 1 Fender micro with the second ember light was the best, sad the second gen didn't really have anything close to that gain

  • Hey guys, i wanna ask a question here, how can I recording by katana go via usb to laptop reaper daw?

  • so are these intended for use with wireless bluetooth heaphones?
I think I misunderstood the purpose of these.
I cannot connect to my bluetooth speakers or headphones.

  • I have the NUX. Sounds good, but I feel they don't really develop it. Don't really care for it. The LED light on the unit could be a tuner mode indicator with colors and blinking. The best thing it has a mic support, you can sing and play with a 4 pin gaming headset! But you cannot put a compressor on the mic line so it would be much more useful to use it for singing… plus a reverb on it would be the ultimate dream. Why only 7 presets? Why no editable BPM support for delay, why no double delay, why no 3/8 dotted division, actually no divisions at all. Way too limited…. Annoying.

  • First bought the NUX, sounds great for what it is, but can't stream music so playing along is very limited.

Just got the Katana Go after it's now back on the market and… Doesn't sound good on first impression. I haven't had the chance to work on the EQ yet but achieving a good metal sound might not be possible.

It's noisy, (not gate related), it's super thin and even with a fair amount of tube screamer it sounds very vanilla, like it's not pedal boosted.

Stage feel is pointless, it's basically just a button you press that disables stereo. It doesn't separate you from the playback, it literally just puts everything is one location. Maybe something can be programmed with the custom setting, I don't know.

The NUX sounds much better. But… Can't stream…

Bottom line is I bought two items and they are both nearly useless for my needs. Simple needs, I just want a metal sound with stereo delay so i can "mirror" the sound on both sides. It's not so important for leads but mono riffing into headphones is deeply depressing. Stereo delay can be achieved here by balancing two different delays so, that's okay.

To clarify, I use these into headphones, like they are marketed/meant for.

But I really will need to make the metal sound like metal. Cause at the moment even my grandmother would boo me off the stage for sounding like a wuss.

I will obviously change my comment when/if I achieve a good sound. I'll give it some time.

  • Anyone thinking of buying any of these, make sure you take in the headphones you're actually going to be using at home.
Also, I went in looking at the Fender and NUX, and after trying them… bought a Spark Go. It just sounded so much better, and others didn't sound anywhere near as good as they do in these videos.
    Definitely try before you buy.

  • I need something to hear my guitars via head set when playing with others. I want to win. win win win .. then win win win.

  • For practice at home, what would you recommend, Katana go or the new Valeton GP-5?

  • The fact that that the Katana has 2 delays sells it for me… I like that Andy Timmons kind of sound….

  • I bought an Electro Harmonics head amp. It is not a toy, it just amps whatever you put into it.

  • An underrated feature is that you can use the USB connection to turn the Katana Go (and probably the others, but i don't know) into an audio interface straight into your phone. And you can do that at the end of an actual pedal board. Great for getting ideas saved.

  • I find it interesting, Has Vox not come out with another upgraded headphone amp? Vox is my favourite.

  • Katana missed the mark for me when they stopped production because Fender came out with the plus in the gap so I bought one and it’s been great.
