  • I believe it. I prefer a bass overdrive that allows me to blend my clean signal. Saved up money for the mxr M80 DI+… will never go back to any other overdrive/preamp pedal. At one point I did try combining the TS9 with my preamp, on paper it sounded great, but it still felt like some of that clean low end wasn't there.

  • I have a TS808, a TS9 and a Boss SD-1, All are great pedals! Someone with little to no Stacking Experience will not like the standalone Tones if they’re expecting a Metal Distortion sound. However, Stacking any of the 3 pedals mentioned above in combination with a Quality Tube Amp dialed in from Clean to Breaking Up to Full Crunch will appreciate the extra Sizzle! Metallica has a few pics of the TS9 sitting right on top of a Marshall Head in the studio, It’s Undeniable that Metallica had that Sizzle before any other Metal band, There sound is Unique and Amazing! Andy Summers uses a few different OD pedals with the gain turned all the way down to get that Awesome “lonely” sound on Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take. The list goes on and on. Pedals don’t just stay popular for 40-45 years for not being known to create Magic on multiple levels. Try to get familiar with Stacking, It’s a New World of Sounds if you haven’t tried it yet.

  • Tube Screamer is a great pedal if you know and understand how to use it with a real tube amp. Otherwise go pick up Klon ????

  • But i really like my ts9, without any mod. Especially, when you play with the band loudly.

  • @Brotherguitarshop why don’t you just explain how you don’t know how to properly use one??? Bless your heart..

  • Love my TS-9! Modded the hell outta my hot rod deluxe for more gain, and the tube screamer takes it over the edge. Really needs to be used with a tube amp, or to drive another pedal cause it really acts more like a boost but man does it sound good when paired with the right stuff!

  • Honestly everybody that buys a tube screamer, really does not know how to use one. Your amp already has to be way up on the edge of break up before that pedal works well at all. It's an overdrive not a distortion. In lies were most people have their confusion. If you run an overdrive through a clean amp in the front, you're not going to get much out of it. ????????

  • Honestly I still don't enjoy the tube screamer circuit sound… and I'm someone who's pretty lazy about the differences between drives????
