If you want your fender strat sounds like archtops (Gibson ES-335, ES-175 and L5) switch it to Mid Pickup.

Individual construction and body placement have some effect on the sound. If they were all identically manufactured, the sound presented would be less marked in that same instrument. The more variance between constructs would also alter the results. Basic conditions presented here.
