Thank you so much for having me over for a 5-stringed hang, Paul!!! A joy it was. You're the best.
Collier reminds me of Russel Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind" or Geoffrey Rush in "Shine".
this was amazing to watch Paul . Thanks You For This !!!!!!!!♥
The best non-guitarist on earth.
To say that he reinvented The Guitar it's completely madness, for those who didn't know there is a Brazilian instrument that is called Viola Caipira that is basically Jacob's guitar, but with it's 5 strings arranged in pairs… , even the concept of the tunning that Jacob uses is the same as Viola Caipira does… Viola Caipira exist since 1800ish…
Jacob is definitely one of the greatest musicians that I've know, but he definitely hasn't reinvented guitar…

???? save me watching the video
What chord does he say he really likes?
My sister and I agree that this instrument should be called the ‘juitar’ for Jacob. Idk, I think it’s perfect <3
If only Jacon knew the brazilian "viola caipira" . TOÃO CARREIRO E PARDINHO – PENA BRANCA E XAVANTIMHO. Same tunning, so many octaves

Doin'a great job Jacob!!
That guitar is like the brazilian viola, but without duplicated strings.
11:24 & 26:43 without context
25:50 I’m very new to guitar but hearing Paul play this was incredible for me, I want to learn this but I’m unsure what it’s even called or how to find a way to learn it.. could anyone turn me in the right direction? The emphasis strong skipping sounds incredibly good. I need to learn it!
So good! Thank you ????
Willy Wonka the musician
6:33 oh the twang is killing my ears
This video was great! Jacob looking like a homeless Goku lmao
Friends, we live in an era with a musical genius. Historians will write of this angel.
Where can i buy a 5 string
Jacob is so likable
@13:38 Ok….wait…dude can play like that but is still learning where to pick the string with a pick?! I love it.
An extraordinary interview. I love how Jacob sees music as language, and although he speaks a different dialect, he arrives at coherent music, but at 90 degrees to the convention. A beautiful thing to watch. Totally mind-expanding.
Jacob clearly needs a Roli Seaboard to get that expression he desires from a keyboard. Imagine what he could do?!
Who?
God must have had alot of fun making jacob????❤️
Paul is an absolute guitar genius and Jacob somehow manages to match his level. And also go wayyy beyond that with harmonies.
10:02 that just went over my head at first but that was just too funny lol
"Being certain is way less interesting than being uncertain" I love this. Curiosity is key
cancer
33:35 The Rain Song?
Jacob: "As a guitar novice"
thanks for stripping me of even more of my remaining confidence lmao
He didnt reinvent anything he made a gimmicky version of it????
25:29 that sounds beautiful
5 is the magic number in music, makes sense
As a representative of the long a capo association I would like to say that this war has gone on long enough.
"a bit of a musical prodigy"… that is an understatement 🙂
He sounds so pretentious and pedantic, such a fake character, "look at mee, I like dressing like a clown, im special and eager for attention!".
I salute this young guy for being a multi instrumentalist ❤
The best final words of every guitar conversation: "…or Prince!"
I'm curious to know what set of strings he uses to tune like that. And which strings would be better (considering a 6 strings set) for the higher A and D (for instance, using B and E strings tuned 1 whole tone lower OR using G string tuned 1 whole tone higher and B strings 1 and a half tone higher – I wonder that be too much) Looks like he tuned down, as Paul observes at one point, saying Jacob's electric guitar strings tension being low. In this case, what choice would work better? Maybe a blend of higher tension (0.12) for higher B, E and lower E (turned into higher A and D and drop D) and some normal tension strings for the remaining 2 strings? Any ideas?
Lordy Lordy!!
Reinvented the guitar? Is he serious? Collier is an extremely talented guy and I'm a fan , but there are many players that have been exploring different tings for a long, long time. Two sort of very different players that have explored different tunes are the late Michael Hedges who probably used a good 20-30 or more unique tunings and the late Allan Holdsworth, who used a 5 string guitar used in 5th back in the late 80s to early 90s, and explored lots of other non standard tunings on the syntax. And those are just two names that come to mind. . But I guess hyperbole rules the days when it comes to tag lines getting viewers.
6:16 & 6:42 so much speaks to my heart. Could cry each time I hear him play this. Gonna work on this world for my own sake! Thanks Paul and Jacob <3
two really cool dudes…
Max Cavalera has been playing 4 string guitars since the 80s.
