BassBass Lessons

How practicing this riff for just 10 SECONDS a day can turbocharge your bass technique!

Hammer On’s and Pull Off’s

These techniques are super important for developing your strength and stamina, like regular short weight lifting, even just a few seconds of playing this riff a day will help you. I guarantee that after working on this line for a few days, the dexterity will improve and you’ll begin to feel an improvement in your stamina. This is due to the fact that you are relying on your forearm and fretting hand to create a note.

Riff Breakdown

As shown on the stave below, the riff involves moving quickly between E and D and F and D.

Then we move between the C# and d and then between the C# and E.

Tips

Pay special attention to your fretting hand positioning, you want those fingers parallel to the frets and curl your fingers over. Play this as slowly as possible and then creep up in speed once your accuracy is assured. Also, you must make sure you are good and warmed up before attempting this riff! This is not for the faint hearted, you wouldn’t hit the weights without getting your heart rate up would you? If you don’t warm up, you’ll cause yourself an injury.
