The Voice of the guest bass player is identical to Matt Berry’s
Excellent album choice, Scottish ???????????????????????????? rock I will have you know. I have the sky surfer and it’s still on my board. ????
4:41 As opposed to the typical bass guitar YouTube channel with knobs on… ????
Is there any advantage to going through an eq pedal before going into the interface vs just using an EQ plugin?
This is a pretty good video on eq and setting up your bass gear for 'the room'. Thanks Gents!!
Back tilted bass amps are a good solution to hard surface "pings", angled stands are available.
Ask the guitarist to lower his bass knob, this is the first thing to do ????
I just subscribed. I am new to bass, and hope to be able to play along to older blues music.
Is the strategy different if your plugged into the PA? Then your just using the amp for you to hear thru the guitars n drums?
I found it humorous when you gave example of the amplification of low bass frequencies an the audience being uncomfortable, I enjoy my kneecaps shaking , but i understand your point????
Having the guitarist turn down-
So……..
When someone actually witnesses and documents such an occurrence, please notify Smithsonian Institute immediately.
This is probably the first reason I have no interest in ever being in a cover band ever again.
Ridiculous
Seeing them going back and forth to their volume knob shaking their heads, no not at 767 jet level yet, oh, drowning out vocals, wiping me out, not going to keep this game going anymore, nope, not turning up- I know my gear and where my amp volume is right now is massive- but they just keep at it.
Enough
And please noodle around between songs at full volume, no really everybody here tonight is concerned about your Tube Screamer also.
Next rehearsal-guitarist-“couldn’t hear myself at all……”
Wow
True
Add drink and other goodie’s to that/unsubstantiated ego, = hearing loss for the rest of us peasantry.
Great video Guys
Have to adjust to rooms, not them though.
A MUST pedal for bass. players, your $300.00 bass will sound incredible with any amp
Great suggestions. We all search eternally for the perfect tone. I agree with the tried and true lowering of the bass frequencies and boosting mids to “cut through.” Also, I employ an amp stand for my cabinet that points it upwards towards me for stage clarity.
I never have my amp on the ground. The Boss Eq pedal is a terrific addition for balancing frequencies and is recommended on a bassist’s pedalboard. Many thanks to you both for the advice.
You both mentioned aiming the bass sound upwards. So where have the wedge cabs gone? I have an elderly Fender Bassman25 wedge cab that I can lean back to get the sound going towards my head. I also have a Carvin AG1000 that only sits flat and I get the best sound when it's on a carpet or anything that insulates it from a hard floor. That's me, sound and tone being subjective. Good ideas on EQing for rooms. How many times have I heard groups playing too loud for the room? Or a screaming guitarist who hasn't found anything below the 12th fret?
So do you use the boss graphic eq instead of the eq on the amp (sending the signal through the return?) or do you use both eqs.
I use an Auralex isolation riser. Not sure if you guys have ever tried one. If you’re traveling light it’s another thing to carry of course.
great tips guys to get those cool tones live, thank you guys
