Great demo ????????????
Upton Mission
I've never heard a Music Man bass sound that muted and dead. The videos I've seen of it are usually played with round wounds, with tone all the way up and are slapped. But this sounds really good.
Ernie Ball buys an ad in which you say never change your strings. deftly
sadly there’s just no way to mimic a hofner bass. it’s the hollow
What is the source that says Macca did not use a pick for the Taxman bass part?
using the less i know the better for reference isnt the best choice since that song was actually done on guitar with the roland gk-3 synth pickup going through the roland gr-55
i hate this kind of generic ass videos. why would you even throw pink floyd in, their bass sound was the opposite as this
Ive done this with my Ibanez RG bass, with a 5 string set of Labella flats (tuned BEAD, no G) and even tho the pickups are crappy and also active, i get pretty close to the older sound. I want something passive or at least replace the pickups because theyre finicky and mostly bad.
Try the nylon coated flat wound strings also!
Very good! Respect from Russia!
Also, a felt pick can help in achieving that classic sound, especially if playing a more modern bass.
Great video! What kind Bass d.i would you reccom to get ghis big sound? Cheers!
This video is what I've been trying to find! I'm not a gear head and I didn't even know how to describe the sound I was imagining. Thank you so much
My absolute favorite bass track of all time is sympathy for the devil, which I read was played by Keith Richards on the ‘68 recording, not Bill Wymsn. Lots of attack, deep, woody, hollow sound.
Flatwound strings and keeping the wife are good combinations for money-saving tips. Divorces are very expensive, take it from a dude who has had three.
Hey awesome video! Does anyone know a good saturation pedal to suit this type of tone/setup?
Exactly what i was hoping to find when i opened youtube today. Thanks!
You want authentic? Then put La bella flats on a pbass or jazz bass, then get some 3/8" tall X 1/2" wide black foam rubber weather stripping at Ace Hardware closed cell, medium density. Stick it on the bridge cover just like Fender did originally but you gotta put it right up against the bridge saddles. Voila authentic mute with just the right decay. Then just adjust your treble as desired.
As far as the tone knob goes where should I keep that?
Paul McCartney most definitely did use a pick on Taxman.
me who hasn't even gotten his bass yet, watching this video: I understand…nothing
what is name use bass model?
Great video! What tape saturation plugin are you using, and what kind of settings if you would be so kind?
Normal to flat wound. Flats were the normal string for ages. Rounds were peculiar.
How about string action?
Great tips and clear explanations about a vintage bass sound that really hard to imitate. I enjoyed your video and all of your tips was exactly right in my case. Thank you very much!
What pick are you using? Looks like a felt pick?
That bass is insane. What heads did you use in BIAS???
That sound at 3:44 is only made by compresor and EQ ?
Let's have the Tubular Bells late side 1 riff – I can feel it straining to burst out.
okay, understand that flatwounds are a tip here. but what about using roundwounds?
Step 1: Own a Höfner Bass.
I use a pick while playing my p bass to try to get that vintage tone but all I hear is that loud annoying clicking. Do any of you gear nerds know how I can reduce this?
More thumpy than rubbery but I dig
To get the McCartney sound on the Horner, have the rhythm on, bass off and treble on. Those are the settings for the three switches next to the volume knobs. That setting is what Paul always used on each Beatles song that has a hofner. So from please please me to help and on let it be. On the other albums, he used his rick except for the white album. He mainly used a fender jazz bass.
I always thought the pick vs fingers debate was really stupid and pointless. Most iconic bass lines and The Who’s who of bassists had their own techniques, relatively few of them played “traditionally”. Why do people care about this?
Hofner on tapewounds. Done.
paul definetly used a pick for taxman.
I put a sponge under the strings near the pickups.
What’s the song at 0:11
P-bass + nylons
Video chiaro e sopratutto con traduzione in italiano, complimenti
Charming chap! 🙂
