Mick Karn & Kev Hopper of STUMP dominate this technique
NATHAN WATTS???? is a total ???? BEAST
What is that "octave up" effect on the bass? Is it just the "bi-product" of a certain type of overdrive? There are plenty of pedals that add an octave down but not that many (that I know of) that add a higher octave. I like it!
That Wal bass is divine.
Squiggles sound great on a fretless
See you're technically brilliant ,but if you wanna nail that Stevie Wonder shit you might need a dirty sound ❤
You guys are just great.
Greg Howe mastered the guitar squiggle
Mark Adam's from Slave was SLIDIN" too bro
The crazy guy in the band magma does that a lot!!! Insane bass work from France.
The guy in the right does far more teaching than Scott. He should have his own channel.
Steve Di Georgio in the album Individual Thought Patterns. Listen to it and you dont have to thank me later! ????????????????
That was totally gnarly ????????????
I don’t know why but, nobody had to explain this to me. Maybe it’s because of who my heroes were early. Larry Graham, Nate Phillips, Verdine White, and of course Jaco.
I can't find it now, but I remember seeing a video years ago with Nate Watts describing recording this song, IIRC Stevie Wonder called him in the middle of the night to get to the studio to lay his part down, he was well pissed off and the irritation sort of came out in those trills.
eyeing your next target note helps so fucking much
THANK YOU. I have trying to learn It Gets Funkier Pt 1 and cannot get these down. I didnt even know what they were called until literally just now. You're a couple life savers boys!
this is much less about nailing squiggles as it is about nailing the exit from executing a squiggle
That wasn’t played on a bass
Done on fretless???
I mean really you should be looking to your hands at all. If you start learning that way it might be a little slow going but in the end You'll Play smoother and faster by proprioception and feel and stick in your eyeballs in the middle of an auditory process. I played trombone growing up period and husband you looked at the paper and the conductor I knew by the sound if I was in tune or not I didn't watch my hand period the same with the double-based I'm reading the material and watching the conductor I'm not looking at where my hands are going I know what they're going because I have muscle memory that tells you where to go and once you get good at that you rarely are even out of tune but you can tune it up at an instant using your ears not your eyes period
exactly!!
If I'm not mistaken John Deacon plays a squiggle at about 2:22 of Bicycle Race. A friend of mine always wondered what the hell John was doing there 😀
The GREATEST song I have EVER heard?
Put Superstition and I Wish in a hat and pull one!!!????And this comes from someone who's three favorite bands are Rush The Allman Brothers and The Cure!
You’re killing me with the Wal! Time to sell a kidney!
First one sounds like Sk8tr B0i
Right. That’s the second Wal he’s shown up with.. ???? I want one!!
Oh man i CANT STAND 'squiggles'..
Sometimes I'll be so focused on nailing that one difficult section that I forget what comes after and have to jump to it. It's something I could definitely stand to work on a little bit.
I struggle with playing squiggles, I can't seem to get it to sound clean
Some of the best advice I got from another bassist was to watch where I am going, don’t look where I’ve been. This shows exactly why! Keep rockin dudes!
Mono neon be the king of squiggles!!
Watched the original lesson. Killer. On saved list
That’s right always be looking ahead to where you’re headed. You guys are killer. When it happens on the record, it almost sounds like a mini moog.
Thanks guys!!!
What FX are on your bass tone?! Sounds wicked!
do you need flats to do it?
what effect used for that squiggles? octave?
What’s the correct term for it ?
Wow squiggles…????
Tal Wilkenfeld uses that a lot in her playing. Great effect and feel
Squiggles Devine sounds pretty good.
Baddest baseline there is
