  • Hey Dave, I have a Marshall JCM900 50 watt dual reverb. I've been trying to dial in the JF tone but can't seem to find the sweet spot. Curious if you have any insight on this? Wonder if it's the amp or me. I have the Jack Hammer, DS2 and the Ibanez wah as well. I'm going through the JCM800 2 -12 cab. Love the content-Cheers!

  • What Ohm setting are you running the speakers, Dave? Is this super crucial for your tone also? I find a clearer tone in the 8 Ohm range personally!

  • Hi Dave- I’m playing a MIM strat into a Marshall origin50 combo. It sounds super weak, tinny, and metallic even after trying every combination of settings. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it? Your video mention a compression pedal and some settings, others have mentioned pre amps, swapping pickups, bad soldering, EQ pedals. Wanted to get your thoughts.

  • Hello Dave, congratulations on your work and your music, you can see that you do all this with passion and dedication. I've followed pretty much all of your videos on how to get the Frusciante sound and I'm almost there. in a video you said that you rely on your pedals to recreate the sound because obviously you can't always have your favorite amp available. In my case I have this amp: DV Mark Jazz 12 can you give me some advice on how to set it up? if I put the volume of the ds 2 to 10 there is a jump in volume too large but if I keep it more I lose the characteristic sound of the ds 2 (as you teach ^^). Thanks for your time and keep it up! ????

  • okay, I've made everything right, now I'm able to use the DS2 without the jumping volume.

BUT now I got to deal with a lot of noise from the DS2. Once I turn it on, I can't stop playing for a single second, cause if I do it gets really annoying. It actually happens even while I'm playing, but it depends on the way I play. Is that a normal thing? Anybody dealing with the same issue?

  • I love to create some nice loops on clean and add some DS-2 solos to it. In order to avoid volume jump I decrease the LEVEL of DS-2. It reduces the power of DS-2 sound, if set in a sweet spot it cooperates nicely with the clean AMP. What do you think about that solution Dave ?

  • Intro la cigale is a mosrite fuzzrite you can hear the grit of the fuzz mode 1 on the ds2 sounds close to it

  • Hey Dave (: Can you make a mother’s milk tone video and show us some mother’s milk riffs? or will youtube copyright nab you?

  • Stupid question, but how do you crank the amp whilst still keeping the volume down? You mentioned that the volume would deafen you at the levels you have the volume dials on the Marshall but it sounds great for house volumes still. Much obliged 🙂

  • Hi Dave,

What drive pedals would you recommend to use with a fender Princeton reverb? I got a muff, and a tube screamer, and eq pedal. Having some trouble though for Frusciante tone

  • The first 6 minutes are like a ridiculously helpful essentials of amplification lesson for people who've never played beyond their bedrooms.

  • Hi Dave! You might be able to help me: When I engage my DS-2, there's a nasty squeal coming through that is unbearable. I'm using a '09 American standard strat through a 1959SLP mainly cranked. My board is heavily JF inspired. Thanks! 🙂 Amp setting: Presence: 4 Bass: 6 Mids: 5 Treble: 4 Vol 1: 4 Vol 2: around 5 ish

  • Amazing!
Unfortunately i struggle "squishing" the signal on my orange crush cr60 when i use Ibanez WH10 or DS2. The volume "wahahaohoah here i am" increase stops when i set gain on 5 or 6.
I know that you own a cr60, could you maybe do some video about how to tame the WH10 and DS2 on Orange CR60?
