This is incorrect. You are playing E5 (open [02xxxx]), G5 (3rd fret [35xxxx]), A5 (5th fret [57xxxx]), and A#5 (6th fret [68xxxx]). The actual record though is played using perfect 4ths starting on D, not 5ths starting on E. So the record uses Dsus4, Fsus4, Gsus4, and G#sus4. He isn’t playing the 5th in those chords tho, just the root and the 4th. So, Dsus4 would be open on the D and G strings (xx00xx); Fsus4 would be 3rd fret on the D and G strings (xx33xx); Gsus4 would be 5th fret on the D and G strings (xx55xx); and G#sus4 would be 6th fret on the D and G strings (xx66xx). Keeping that in mind, if you replace E5 with Dsus4, G5 with Fsus4, A5 with Gsus4, and A#5 with G#sus4, then you have the correct pattern of open, 3rd fret, 5th fret; open, 3rd fret, 6th fret, 5th fret; open, 3rd fret, 5th fret, 3rd fret, open.

Not the right key and is not the correct way to play the song. However it gets people playing and that is a good thing. Keep going but look at the correct way to play the song.

WRONG ,WRONG ,WRONG!!!!!!! Who taught this guy to play Smoke on the Water? Buggs Bunny? The intro riff is done by plucking the open D and G strings at the same time with your finger tips ,and not with a pick! Try it with the record. This guy is waaaaaaaay off course and shouldn't be teaching guitar at all!!!
