How to sound like Metallica Boss Katana 50

So the people at BOSS challenged me to get some classic guitar tones out of a Katana amp in around 60 seconds…. Today we’re dialling in a Classic Metallica inspired sound. Here I’m using a Katana 50 but this will also work for any Katana Model (50, 100, 100/212, Head) straight out of the box.
The amp is simply mic’d with 1 SM57 as well as a room mic so you can get a feel for what it would be like in the room.

Must be hunting for easy views. This is a horrible attempt of the classic metallica tone. I have this amp and am about to buy an evh 5150 just to get closer. The boss katana is not at all good at replicating that sound. 0/10

Sorry brother. You'll need tone studio, put a metal zone for a boost pedal and the graphic eq in the modulation or effects (i go for fx in case i want compression, chorus or flange.)

Mids 12
Treb 2-3 oclock or more
Metal zone, play with it (max it)
GEQ JUST ON no more than just ON
Verb? Noon or whatever
Side note…. use this for all raunchy metal… i go from mayhem to slayer (dont care for metallica) to bathory just playing with the 3 eqs on the panel… they make a world of difference…. you lacked mids, the katana is really finicky with the eq… use the geq in effects
Sounds like shit no offense. Scooping on this amp just makes it sound super hollow. Like more than usual because it's clearly a wide range. It's decent with the mids more in there though.

I know this is an old video but I can’t undermine how many simply steps you looked over. Metallica scooped the mids but gave them a boost in the Mesa Boogie Mark 2 c+ 6 band EQ. The bass should’ve been dialed back if anything. And a boost was necessary, as well as the variation button for the amp setting
This is more of a Metallica sound after the 90s. I want 80s
