  • Really cool sounds effects. You can almost eat some of those melodies – and all the angles on the different guitars and pedals at once are so helpful

  • When it comes to the Cure's catalog, I know people tend to turn up their noses at "Friday I'm In Love", but the interplay between those parts is nothing short of sublime.

  • Awesome video! I am so happy to see you reproduce these great songs with “common” gear. As a long-time Cure fan I am really excited to retry these songs on my small collection of equipment. Thank-you for the inspiration! ????❤️????????✌️

  • Cool make note Robert Smith used Roland Cube a trio in 1970s 1980s still now. Theses are lighter in weight plus still has this sound and few others.
I havent seen photos of Robert smith with a jazz chorus only roland cube.

    Could you do
    Puscifer
    A perfect Circle

  • Been a fan of the The Cure since 1990 and I have seen them live several times. The Fender Bass VI is what makes the cure The Cure(+Robert Smith of course;)

  • 5:00 "Robert Smith used a Boss board through the 80's and still uses a lot of Boss pedals today"

There's an interview with him from when The Cure was touring the Wish album where he half joked that he preferred Boss pedals because he was attracted to the colours 🙂

  • This was a very nice video. Relaxed yet very informative. Would love to see other bands receive the same treatment.

  • Great representation of the Cure's sound! I appreciated the mention regarding the fact that not every piece of gear or exact setting would be mentioned, but that the video would focus on the overall picture of the Cure sound over the years. Great job again! Thanks!

  • One of the best recreations of Robert’s tone on A Forest I’ve ever seen. Especially since there’s a million covers of it so that was pretty impressive. I’m still waiting for someone to do a video for the In Orange version of the song which arguably beats the studio version in terms of guitar tone.

  • Fantastic video, more of this series would be excellent. Joe's delivery, as well as his playing, makes it super cool to follow and it's great to see the settings up close! Love The Cure, this has made my day. PS also echo the comments on the Cocteau Twins, a limited series on shoegazers would be amazing Reverb!

  • Love that the Bass VI featured so heavily. I know this isn’t meant to be a strictly accurate attempt to replicate that classic Cure sound, but that instrument is such a key part of it.
