  • Funny fact… about a year and a half ago l bought this pedal. I had looked after a used one in months everywhere (l live in Denmark) without findig anything, even in the annual guitar market/show held in my town: there was litterally everything you can think and dream of, new as well as used overdrive pedals in the hundreds of all known and unknown brands and models… but not one single BD. Being the BD a very popular pedal in years, this can only mean one thing; those who buy it keep it for whatever reason.
So l bought a new one and now l know why people don’t sell it ever again… ????

  • Throw the BD-2 in the trash.
BOSS uses electronic switching with ruins the signal AND they use polarized electrolytics for all interstage coupling. The electrolytics will not pass half of your signal.
    Learn to HEAR these things.

  • New sub here. Excellent playing! Very good demo of the BD-2.

Amazing tutorial on innovative ways to use OD pedals in general! I learned a couple of new things today!

    Thank you!

  • BD-2 was the second overdrive pedal I ever bought, 25+ years ago. Since then I have bought and built eight or so other overdrives, and it is still one that I always count on. If I don’t have that BD-2 on my board, I probably have the clone I built (modded).

  • Great video! I use the Blues Driver as a boost into edge of break-up or slightly overdriven amps. Into a Marshall JTM45 or alike its inherent bass drop is great to simulate the tighter front end of a '69 Plexi and such. I've managed to tweak an EQ-pedal so it sounded very close to the BD but found it did lack the slight compression of the BD. My favourite boost pedal!

  • Thank you for one of the best tutorials on pedals that I've seen. I've played drums all my life, my first instrument. I need a knee replacement, but after 45 years of drumming it's nice to just sit down and play the guitar! My second instrument is guitar. Both are self taught. I've played mainly acoustic all my life, but recently bought a Fender Telecaster Custom Shop 60 with a Vox AC15 valve amp. I've had a Boss pedal board since the early 90's with all 90's pedals. Boss chorus, Boss digital delay, Boss compression / sustain, and Boss heavy metal pedal. I've recently added the 50th anniversary Boss DS-1. I was listening to the Blues Driver and I was wondering if this would add to the DS-1? Just those two pedals on there own with a little reverb and slight delay sound like a good combination to me! Thanks again for an amazing tutorial man. Subscribed! 🙂 ????????

  • Great vid just bought one. I prefer the gain at two o clock level midday tone 11 o clock into a VOX AC30 with blues with a crunch sound I find it’s like adding another amp to the sound. Great pedal Best wishes from ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • Please help. i just bought mine and it does not sound good as how it did when i played it at the store. it has a nasty sound where its too twangy and bright vs when I played it at the store, it sounded warmer and more funky.

  • Excellent informative video and great playing, thank you! I love my Blues Driver. An incredible versatile pedal. In regard to the the conventional view that a Tube Screamer is better for guitars with humbuckers and the Blues Driver better for single coils, I have found the opposite to be true. My Strat sounded so thin and lackluster when played clean, but once I got an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer (level dimed and gain on zero), it fattened up the tone immeasurably and provided a volume boost as well. I felt like I achieved tonal Nirvana. For anyone who might be interested, a good example of the tone I was able to achieve with the Strat through the TS is my guitar instrumental cover of "Since I Fell for You," (Fender Player Plus Strat and Fender Super Champ X2 with Ragin' Cajun Speaker), which is posted on my channel.

  • Great video! I just picked up an SD1 and I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to use the BD2. You gave a bunch of tips that can help me choose the tone direction I’d like to go

  • I use a BD-2 as a base rhythm overdrive with the gain between 10 & 2 o'clock depending on the song. For solos I run a Tube Screamer into it with the level all the way up & gain all the way down. They work great together this way for me. LP humbuckers BTW.

  • I have so many overdrive and distortion pedals that i have swapped in and out of my board. I got the BD2 and put all the rest away. This is by far the best sounding drive pedal.

  • Thanks for a very educational and useful video. I have a gazillion pedals and have just put this one back in use after ignoring it for many years…had forgotten how good this unit is.
