HX Stomp for Bass | Effects Walkthrough and Free Preset

The entire reason I bought an HX Stomp (originally) was to replace my bass pedalboard. I think it’s fantastic for this and I thought I’d share the preset I’ve created for bass, and talk through some of what’s going on in there.

Download the patch here:

Unless I state otherwise in the video, everything I test out on here is stuff that I bought myself. There are no paid reviews on this channel and only a couple times have I ever had items sent to me for review. All opinions are my own!

  • The hx stomp is still a little too expensive (even used) for a bass beginner who wants to get closer to the sound of the songs he is learning. What do you think of the Headrush MX5? I found a used one in good condition.

  • Nice tones. For those who don’t use Dropbox, you might want to put the preset up on L6 Customtone? Thanks for the video ????????

  • Hey man, thought I’d mention – you can adjust the volume on the output block without having to add a volume block 🙂

  • Instead of running the sansamp into the svt block try moving the svt block to path B and running them in parallel. That’s what I do with the B15 and Noble di blocks.

  • Personally wouldn't underestimate 500Hz to help with note definition in a band mix. Apart from that – enjoyed this!

  • How timely this is since I finally today ordered an HX Stomp to use with bass. I still have a big pedalboard including lots of Darkglass pedals, so I mainly wanted to replace an old Zoom BFX-708 digital multi-effector. Don't really need the distortions or cab sims, but who knows, I might change my mind.

Oh, btw, I'm in Phoenix too.

  • thanks so much for the Hx stomp patch. Im gonna give it a try.
I sold off 99% of my pedals (kept a cali76, and thronheim skarbass one) and bought an HX stomp. I have dialed in 5 tones to cover all my playing.
My biggest take away with the HX stomp is if you're using a stage amp/cab to remove the amp/cab block, or if you are going straight to the house, to remove the amp/cab on a footswitch. Makes it easy. Next, use the global setting to remove useless low (80hz and below) and useless High( 4k and above) ,on all patches. Finally, figure out the amount of gain from each bass, and adjust it so its perfect, and figure out how to footswitch it in, incase you switch basses during your show.

  • The darkglass emulation is nice because you don't sacrifice the low end (to my ears).

  • Thank you for this walthrough ???????? I have thought about doing this for a while now. Gotta buy one this summer, which would be working as both my double amp pedal for my electric guitar (when I play modern stereo set up) and as my only pedal when I play bass in church.
