I Bought An Epiphone Amp and Guitar on Facebook Marketplace…????

We’ve all heard it and we’ve all said it before. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Hey everybody and welcome back to my pink room of doom, as always, I hope you’re doing well today! My name is Jonathan and I run the Electric Flamingo channel here on YouTube, the only and best flamingo themed guitar channel on the platform! Why am I here? Just to have fun, discuss guitars, gear, music and everything in between in the guitar player’s world! I have played guitar for almost 15 years at this point, I have recorded music for a little under that, probably about 13 years or so. I am not a professional by any means, but it’s all in good fun and I enjoy doing it! I try to include lots of different types of content in my uploads. Skits, reviews, demos, discussions, etc. I’m always open for suggestions as well, so if you have anything you would like to see or hear me talk about, please leave me a comment or contact me on Instagram and I will do my best to fill that request!

  • Fabreeze.

  • Really cool amp, and I am actually here because one just popped up on FB Marketplace. Lol,head and cab for $150. Great video I had a similar experience buying a used Les Paul Standard. Broken neck right at the string tree nut area. Like you, I knew how to repair, etc, although it was sort of fixed…more of a cover up job. Anyway, turned out fine, did the proper repairs and set up the guitar. Had the excellent old Epiphone humbucker set that they don't make anymore…the '57 Classic I believe they were?

  • I don't quite understand something – did you buy it locally or have it shipped? You should always look over everything thoroughly as possible in person and match up the description and photos when you buy from marketplaces. If it was shipped though, then yeah that was on the seller.

  • A friend of mine ordered a Mesa cabinet from eBay about fifteen years ago.. had a full blown fire ant nest in it.

To this day we still don't know how the fuck that got passed anyone, FedEx or the seller. ????‍♂️

  • I don't think you got hurt. The prophecy series is the best eppiphone guitar I think which are harder to find..I would have done that. Good move.2thumbs up

  • If the pickups are genuine, I still think you did ok. I think the amp looks great, too. I had an LP Prophecy years ago (the one with EMGs) and I hate myself for selling it.

  • Epiphone please sponsor this man! I really think you scored big here I know I’m always digging through Facebook marketplace but most of the time someone always beats me to a good deal. Great vid I can’t wait to hear Big Red!

  • A cautionary tale, but that said with a bit of work you can tidy both the guitar and amp up . Looking on UK ebay there is a Prophecy with a number of nicks and dents for £349 which I think would be $420 so to get an amp and guitar for that price you did well. Was that car body filler I saw in the neck? Ps I'm guilty of buying some guitars from ebay which were only good for firewood it happens to the best of us!

  • I just bought an xplorer and it had a knob missing (wasn't so in the pictures), a raised fret and was dirty af. I spend the first hour cleaning the damn thing. Its always a bit of a gamble imho. And pictures don't always represent the product accurately. Great vid dude! I like the amp but the guitar body is beautiful man really too bad about that neck! Good thing you took the time to check it out. ????????

  • I think you did alright in the end. Headstock break isnt bad if its playable, especially if it's a less expensive guitar. Had it been a Gibson Modern SG or something. I'd be kicking in the guy's door right now, but as ling as it plays fine its good. As for the cab, that looks cool as hell. Go to an auto parts store and get Odor Neutralizer spray. It is specifically made to get smoke odors out of cars, and works better than any Febreeze or anything.
I like Marketplace, and have found that you cannot assume anything when it comes to buying. I have sold lot of gear on it, and always go over the top on my description so the buyer knows exactly what theyre getting, but Ive found im in the monority there. Anyways, dont worry about it, you did alright!

  • Last two guitars I ordered from Reverb had issues which seller did not disclose. I fixed them because they were guitars I really wanted but the sellers lied to get higher prices. I've had several friends have similar problems. Sellers are frequently scum.
