  • You may not like the hook on the head stock but I do . I think it looks better than the Fender style. You're way too critical on a 100 dollar guitar. Monoprice's guitars come set up better than Squires their necks are much better than Squires right out of the box. They're probably made in the Squire factory.

  • Me: This is amazing! Why does a $100 guitar sound this good?
Darrell: OK, this is just plugged straight into my Helix, and…
    Me: oh.

  • I am curious, how this guitar would sound in Jimmy Hendriks hands. It isn't the sword but, the hand of the fighter which win the war.

  • I bought a guitar for 120 dollars just to see what I got and it not that bad to be honest. I'm having fun with it as an experimental guitar where every time I mod my Fender strat, that part goes over on the cheap guitar. In other words, It has Fender pickups, I am swapping out the pots on my Fender to have 500K pots, and then the cheap guitar gets the fender pots.. Ordered a Fender scalloped neck to put on my fender, and the cheap guitar gets the new neck. I did not give it the fender tuners because those i put on my Squier Affinity Telecaster when i swapped to locking tuners on my strat, but might just for fun buy Fender tuners when its time to swap the neck. Swapping from Squier tuners to Fender tuners required me to do some adjustments such as drilling new plug hoes, so when that cheap guitar I have gets the strat neck when my strat gets the scalloped then i'm pretty sure I have to do some adjustments to make the Fender neck fit on the cheap guitar. Will it sound like a Fender when done? well we will see! Will my Strat sound like a Strat when complete, probably not really since i have a Seymore Duncan hot rails for bridge, DiMarzio Air Norton S for neck and waiting for my DiMarzio Pro Track to put in the mid position! My Squier has a DiMarzio chopper in the bridge and the neck pickup I have not decided yet what to go for but maybe twang king or something like that! Will swap the Squier bridgeplate to a Fender US bridge plate and that of the one with 3 point saddles instead of the 6 saddles that are currently on it. Lastly for the Squier I will buy a Fender US telecaster neck later just because why not, and just keep the Squier neck in reserve! The Squier wil also end up with 500K pots and all 3 of those guitars have different string gauge. Cheap guitar has steel strings .09-42 the Squier has Ernie balls .09-42 super slinky and the Strat is setup with Ernie balls .08-38!
Tons of fun to mod guitars, tons of fun to play them after!

  • Bought a 100€ Strato Chinese replica years ago and it was fantastic: perfect neck, perfect body, stunning ceramic microphonic pickups.
Today it is still perfect: nothing degraded, top grade reliability.
Just changed the Pickups, in favour of Alnico V, not because the quality of sound but for the Alnico tone and dynamic range and now the guitar is awesome.
My experience is that price- wise cheap guitars are the perfect option for a huge number of amateur players and with some mod also for many pro

  • Crazy good for so little money. Way back in 1974 I bought an Ibanez Les Paul copy to which I added real Gibson humbuckers and Schaler machine heads to make it descent and that came to over £600 way back then. That would buy a real Les Paul today.

  • Hey Darrell at the mono price web page when you click on the guitar and scrolled down a bit the specs sheet comes up telling you all the info for each guitar and amp they do see much higher quality guitars for a bit more cash especially for the money the top end $300 pieces are stupid good for the money build wise. My guess the neck is the same it uses on its $200 and $300 rigs

  • Darrell monoprice makes one of the best tube amp and head you can get for the money love to see you try them out they seem to be impressive

  • Do they still sell Harmony F-hole steel string guitars? Mine helped prevent me from becoming a guitarist. You need to be more careful selecting your first acoustic nylon or steel stringed guitar.

  • Well, yea changing the head shape to avoid infringement. But come on. We all know it’s infringement.

  • Cool, man!
You are doing something similar to what Sean from Scar My Guitar does with His guitars! ????

Everybody, this comment isn't to spam You or anything, but I recommend for You to go and subscribe to Scar My Guitar, hosted by Sean and Cathy!

  • During your set on the cheapie… it sounded ok until you hit the bar and it lacked synchronicity. The strings started not getting along. I would definitely change the block. Using that bar ruined an otherwise decent blues piece.

  • My best advice i can give to anyone starting or wanting to play guitar. Buy a cheap guitar $100 or less. They sound just as good. Just make sure you tune it every time you go to play it. And buy some extra strings in case you break any. Yes I do play.

  • sometimes there's a gem. i bought an "artist" brand (group out of sydney), their knock off of a gibson es-335 for $125(AUD), and with the exception of having to slightly adjust two saddles in the tuno-o-matic bridge, it's needed very little set-up to make it into a super playable guitar.
spoke with a couple other players i know and found most of them have at least one artist model and that their opinions are similar to my own… they're playable, sound pretty good, and would be a bargain at three times the price.

  • I believe the same would apply to cheap gear4music guitars if you're in UK. I check and there're several models that are exactly identical between Indio and gear4music

  • Greetings from Indy, I purchased an natural Latitude Cardinal last night off of reverb. (3-6-24). I’m an old Steinberger buff until they became $3000+. Thanks for the review, I’m so excited for next Tuesday is “New Guitar Day” for me. Thanks again and keep up the awesome content. Todd

  • People spending $100 on a guitar have absolutely no clue what you are talking about in this video – and probably don't care!!!

  • If you look at the back of the tuners you have white dodts protective plastic peal them off, they will look great.

  • I got the same guitar and the setup is not like he shows on utube. the fret ends were sharp and needed filing and lots of other issues. he obviously got a "special issue" to show ff.
