  • I've owned 12 Gibson Zakk Wylde signature models, and this makes me regret selling all of them.
I'm on the prowl for a ZWA serial number…

  • Great vid! I'm curious as to what you'd suggest to anyone trying to recreate this tone but using readily available modern stuff.

  • You're a funny bastard yourself.
I can never tell when a Welsh person is taking the piss or not though.

  • Bro it's a hot take but I totally agree, I don't care for the "happy" whole step riffs of a lot of the RR era tunes, I get that they were trying to write pop tunes but it was never heavy enough for me either. RR was obviously a monster player but I prefer pretty much every other Ozzy guitarist over RR for both composition and tone.

  • Zakk reintroduced the craziness ozzy needed in a guitar sound. No Rest is a great album, with a maniacal guitar tone. I appreciate the subtle techniques he displayed on that album. Randy was great, i enjoy listening to Randy's tweaks underneath or set back behind his main hooks. I enjoy listening to what he's doing during Ozzy's vocal verses and choruses…even the subtle nuances during his solos. Randy and Zakk are where it's at for me. Taking nothing from Lee at all of course! And….it's possible that I have no idea what I am talking about! Love your videos btw!

  • when you talk about ozzy's music with randy being too happy… alot of 80's metal/rock is very positive. i realize you are talking about your personal preference, but that's how the 80's were, despite all the nuttiness that was going on during that time. also, i think tone is contextual. i've heard some isolated tracks from famous songs who's guitar tone was ass by itself, but perfect for the rest of the "soup". randy roades has more than one song like that. also, not ALL ibanez guitars sound bad. i like the super 58's in my ar. my ear isn't as well trained as yours, but to me they sound as good as my les paul does.

  • i dont understand why you didnt mention the most important secret in that low bass distortion… wich is the yamaha rev 7 rackmount symphonic patch. this is going nowhere without that effect

  • Zakk’s amps were modded by M&G amplifiers. Slightly different but still very close.

  • Amazing. I have no idea what it takes to change a speaker, but when I think about you swapping speakers and cables and pickups and whatever, it sounds like an astonishing amount of work. Thanks for all you do!
