  • Just want to note, in 2022 you can still get this outstanding instrument for roughly half a k. But no one's getting mine. 😉

  • I, just bought a ‘95 Sunburst from Russia via Reverb from reputable seller. One of my best gigs ever was playing Cream, Hendrix, SRV covers in a power trio at the world-famous Roxy Theatre on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Sold it which was a mistake but part of Life. I switched to a very unique and incredible 60’s long scale EB3. Bad choice on a premier gig, it played like a detuned violin on stage and I hadn’t worked out all the quirks of it’s neck and tones. The drummer showed up late for the sound check and the crew punished me with no monitors to boot. I wish I had used the ATK. It was heavy but solid. So for 2022 I have re-ignited the ATK (fretted) 300 experience. RD

  • I love my atk’s. They are hidden gems for sure. Have 2 ATK 305’s, 2 Paul Gray signature series ATK’s and just bought a used ATK 300. They are heavy, but I get a lot of compliments on the sound from sound guys. Where do you usually have the pick up switch? I’m usually in the middle which is parallel I believe

  • I owned this bass in a beautiful green. I gave it to my friend to try out and I never got it back. He moved away and took it with him. That was 10 yrs ago when they reissued the ATK. It is certainly the Ernie Ball killer as far as tone goes.

  • How do you compare this one to the OLP? I just also watched your review of that one, and they're both MM style.

  • OK Thanks for the review, i was wondering if you did one on this bass, one question. Is it heavy like the T-40?

  • Hey Earl, a store near me has an Ibanez ATK305 5 string version for $600…And I'm very tempted to get it…should I?

  • I rented an ATK before. Unbelievably good sound for the price. The only problem is there is nowhere to rest your thumb on.

  • I've had my 5 string ATK since 1995. I was about 11-12 years old at the time and had no idea what I was buying. To this day I feel indebted to that clueless kid who picked out the biggest heaviest bass in the music shop, despite being 100lbs soaking wet himself.

Now that I am a pretty accomplished musician, (Jared Bauer, isn't even close to my real name, but I gots a feeling 7/10 of you would know who I am) despite the Mike Lull, Wyn, and bass' from my current endorser, which I own, that ATK is still one of my favorite bass guitars to play. It just delivers it all, punch, growl, clarity, slap, whenever I need it. I heard it was designed to sound like a musicman. Anyway, the fact that the price has pretty much remained exactly the same is great. I hope some other poor kid, who doesn't even know the great things he's destined for, stumbles upon one and gets the same joy out of it that I did…. And still do!

  • Playing a '97 ATK-300 for 10 years in all kinds of genres. Never let me down, a great sounding workhorse that is reliable and beautiful. More bassists shoud know about the ATK series before running after P-Basses and Stingrays. But I'm glad that not to many know it, i just found a "brandnew" '98 Japan made ATK-305 AMS in a store and going to buy it next week 😉

  • Earl….saw your video on this bass so I went and tried one out at my local music store, Ash body strung through, maple neck and active electronics, well made and sounds awesome, had to get one and American Music Supply had some on a three payment plan with no interest (for those who my be on a very tight budget). Wow what deal and the bang for the buck is the best I've seen. Thanks again for bringing the best news in bass…..Now I can sound good and still have enough left over for a JUMBO JACK with extra cheese…..psk

  • Hi, Maxproud! I have a question? Have you ever played an Ibanez ATK805E Premium, or the ibanez SR1205E Premium basses? If you could get back to me about those two basses that would be great!
    Thanks Dakota

  • First off, thank you. I am familiar with this bass. 'Can't remember if I played it or not. But I remember it reminded me of the "IBANEZ SRX2EX1 Bass" I used to own. So far, I haven't played in Ibanez bass I didn't really like! So I believe you when you say,"It's one of the best basses (you've) ever played!"
