#ibanez BTB866SC-WKL 6-String Review
I could not find any other reviews of this bass, so I just thought I’d make one myself.
Go buy it, it’s really good!

Hi Ben thanks for uploading a video of this bass. I just bought a used custom one online and wanted to hear how it sounded while waiting for mine to arrive and I was not disappointed to hear how it was with just the stock setup. Very cool ????????????
Ibanez should wake up and add a passive/active option on the all the BTB series, they are giving 500 euro sr this option but will not give it to a bass that is more than double.
Hi Ben,
Thanks for the review. Nice job. I bought the 5-string version (BTB865SC) of this in July 2024 from Guitar Center. I love it. Great tone, feel, appearance, no neck dive, etc. Turns out I'm not fond of the thumb rest. I've always rested my thumb on the corner one of the pickups on other basses. The thumb-rest on this is a little bit of a distraction. It feels like it and both pickups are all one device when playing finger-style closer to the bridge pickup. Playing close to the neck finger-style, slap-pop or pick is fine. Not a big deal but I'd rather it not be there. There are no visible bolts or clips to remove it, and I don't want to screw something up by experimenting. There's also the matter of what's under it when it's off. On the Ibanez website it does say it is removeable but nothing else. Have you done this or know of how it is done?
Thanks,

How is the balance? Neck dive?
Can i ask how did you make it passive, as far as i checked its an active only bass, right?
Hi Ben, I really appreciate your excellent, straightforward review of this new Ibanez. Super helpful, because like you, I’ve never owned a 6 string before, but thanks to your review I think I’ll dive in with this one. ???? IMHO Ibanez delivers quality for the money better than any other bass maker out there (also own the SR 5000 oil and the SRF 505 Portamento.). Also aesthetically, what a gorgeous bass, rivaling bespoke builds in the $5000 range and upwards. Long Live the Ibanez Bass Workshop! Thanks again- Subscribed!
Can i ask what you are playing through to get that sound
the bass is just like you… a whale!
Good explain for me . Thank you so much.
SIRE V3 VS IBANEZ BTB745????
How heavy it's that bass ?
I have never had any issues with the locking jack the dingwall uses the same locking jack as ibanez
Looks great! I'm curious about whether or not there is any neck dive? I know it's a problem with some other 6 strings.
Beautiful bass, but looks extremely heavy, could you weight it? I would really aprecciate that.
Also got this bass as my first six-string and completely agree with you. There's something about it that's just fun to play.
That thing is beautiful, congratulations on the new bass. Sounds great too.
Great playing! Beautiful bass. How do you find the neck size? My Ibanez 6 string is way too wide for me to play quick and comfortably
Good demo, boy your drum track is kinda drowning the bass.
Thanks for the review.
It helped a lot!
