Iron Ether FMeron | Synth Bass Pedal

To date, the FMeron from Iron Ether Pedals, is the closest thing I’ve found to true FM synthesis in a pedal for bass players. Just the simple feature of being able to take out the attack in the note, would have alone been worth the price of admission. The fact that it alos has an incredible onboard filter, modulation frequency selector to tune or detune the signal, multiple octave ranges, and expression pedal control of the FM wave, is a massive bonus.

It’s one of the few bass pedals I’ve tried in a really long time that simply doesn’t need anything else to make it sound hip. You can, of course, run this in conjunction with a huge range of other pedals, to take your sounds to ridiculous new heights. And towards the end of the video I did just that.

But in terms of right-out-of-the-box, bang-for-your-buck value: this pedal is a monster. From Blade Runner to Mike Dean (who has done synth work for Kanye West, Jay Z, and a host of other megastars) this single stomp box can do pretty much all of it.

  • Seems like you can have bell sounds like with Ringmodulation but without losing the pitch beyond the tuned note. Is my impression correct??. Thank you!

  • Has anybody ever tried running a Dubterrenea through the FMeron? Might be an idiot idea but I'd love to know how that'd sound.

  • You should have two of the vintage bass octaves on your board. One for the Jojo Mayer setting and one for full dry and full octave 1 so you have that 80s bass octave sound

  • How does this only have 3.5k views? Wow. Also, helluva pedal. I hesitated and missed out buying one a couple of days ago. Great video!

  • The Jojo Mayer sticks looked like it had a normal color wood stick instead of the white finish. I want a pair of those if they exist

  • Loving the pedal show Janek! Great production, great sound quality, amazing intro 🙂
Really helps me to understand some of the amazing sounds you and other guys like Tim Lefebvre and Chris Morrissey are producing. Now I need to save some money to buy some of those amazing pedals and explore the sounds myself. You are presenting al these pedals with such enthusiasm, it makes me want to have all of them 😉

  • Ok,..I’ll say it!…unless like him you’re in a band that allows you to use FX as such,..one would be challenged to find an abundance of use for the tones in the real Bassist role on gigs.

The sounds are cool tho’,..Bass & Drum Dub sessions would be killer!!
That said,..I’m still holding out for a more practical sounding FM synth pedal..you can do some great known/familiar grooves with!!…????✨????????✌????????????

  • Nice work getting the Mayer signature sticks in there while playing material that sounds like Nerve.

  • ephemeron = singular version of ephemera.
    Meaning transitory or short-lived.
    Great play on words/letters here.
