  • Wow. Complain about people commenting on the Fender Standard who have never played one and then 25 minutes into discussing these guitars in the video you tell us it was late, you were tired, and you aren't even sure the guitar's you played at the Fender booth were Standards !?!?! WTF

  • Fender has the best designs but the worst final product for the money. This shitty new Fender but actually a Squier standard series just confirms the fact I’ll never buy another.

  • The new Standards are made to US specs so all parts are interchangeable. Most people wind up changing pickups anyway. 99% of the entire planet couldn’t tell the difference in the new Standards, the MIM, American or Custom Shop guitars anyway. What a professional player hears and what the audience hears are miles apart.

  • In a nutshell, the original (MIC 2008-2018) Classic Vibe series was a fantastic instrument, with exceptional built quality, great Tonerider sourced pickups and, for Strats, alder bodies. The second gen CV (Indonesia) was/is a slightly polished version of the VM series. They pale in comparison to the first gen CV. So now you get, essentially, the dumbed down version with a Fender logo. It's your money, spend it as you will, but my advice would be to grab a first gen CV. If it must read Fender on the headstock, just save a few more bucks a get a used American Standard and be done with it.

  • There really only needs to be a “special” , standard, and deluxe line above that CS and below “special” Squier.

  • I'm sure they're okay instruments, but they are way too expensive for what they are. That''s an upcharge for the Fender name.

  • I was just talking to Sassy right before that, no wonder I hadn't heard from him for a while. Sweet guy..???? But I did have a 93 USA Standard Strat and it was amazing, Can't imagine the Mexican versions were that different .

  • Folks get so caught up in these petty arguments then I actually hear them play( or attempt to play) and I realize that they argue, talk buy and watch videos because they couldn't even play a simple 4 hour bar gig. Delusional!

45+ years of this, I'd estimate 5% of the total guitar owners can actually play.

They mostly just talk and buy. It is odd.

  • I can’t account for the entire Blacktop series by my blacktop jaguar is MIM and the absolute best guitar I’ve ever owned.

  • We had this same conversation back when Fenders were first made in Mexico instead America.

  • My local store got several in this week and I thought they were great. Loved the neck on all the ones I played. They had a great selection.

  • If they had used Alnico pickups instead of ceramic they would have saved themselves some grief; not because of tone but because of specs. I'm as guilty as the next guy comparing spec sheet w/o hearing.

  • I don't know why anyone would expect SS frets on a sub-$1,000 Fender. Its not even close to Fender's business model or marketing plan. HOWEVER, other companies are proving that you can pump out a decent guitar made overseas with "high end" specs (like SS frets) for under $1,000. To me the reception to this line really highlights what the "value" is of the Fender name on the headstock. The internet isn't feeling it. The only "value" in these guitars is that logo. Compare a Fender Standard (Indonesia) to a Ibanez Standard AZ22S1F…

I feel like Fender needs to decide if they are going to compete on being good ratio of price-to-features/specs or go more with the Gibson model and lean entirely into the brand value, aesthetic, country of origin, etc. This Fender Standard series doesn't appeal to either group.

  • I'm sick of how Dorkmaga took over EVERYTHING to the point where it's bled into the guitar industry. I'm so SO SICK OF these people.

  • The Fender logo should be on USA made guitars and amps past and present. Squier on anything else. I think non USA made devalues the Fender brand

  • Oof these racists are the same in anything. Video games, Comic book movies and now guitars. Asians can't shape wood into guitars EVERYONE knows that. It's physically IMPOSSIBLE. I can't wait for this MAGA nation to crumble…

  • I think it’s purely an experiment on Fender’s part as a way to see what they can get away with. They seem fine, and not absolutely out of character for them as a company. I will say it seems more like something they would do a few years after a buyout.

  • This is not about tariffs.

They already have a standard series.. It’s called the Player II.

They do not need a four piece body Indonesian “Standard” instrument.

They already have that market and it’s called Squire.

  • Super Distortion is ceramic. A lot of Dimarzio pickups use ceramic magnets. And their pickups are used by a lot of players.. So let's not poop on ceramic outright.

  • Classic Vibe was their chance to do what Gibson did with Epiphone and put the cheapest Fender stuff as high-end Squier, and stop devaluing the Fender name.

I'm not bothering with figuring out where it was made. Supporting a country that is literally on my doorstep makes a lot more sense to me when possible.

Oh, fun fact: every tube for your tube amp was made in Russia or China, or NOS from the 80s back.

  • No problem with an Indonesian Fender I play telecasters and have American Mexican and Squier versions and plan to add one of these to my collection

  • ok, the stock music at the end of this (used for obvious emergency reasons) made me wonder. 60CH has been using this music for many years (5 just to my knowledge and I'm sure it's more than that). If you put out a call for tunes to use instead of this, on the understanding that it was supplied free and for perpetuity; I reckon you'd get takers. As long as you explain the premise , where's the harm in asking? At this point I (as a 5 year subscriber of this channel ) would be seriously thinking "yes I am tired of this tune and maybe I'm committed enough to that to do something about it" .
I was going to stop there but I realised it sounded grumpy, and that wasn't my intent. There's opportunity here to contribute to the channel. If people can contribute money, what's so weird about people, who don't have disposable money, contributing creativity?
