If ever there was a time for UA to go all in on designing an amp in a box, it is with the Enigmatic.

  • Great video! I’ve owned all the UA amp pedals aside from Anti and this one and they’re great. They do seem to sound better and better as they go .

  • This is why I like your channel Mark. You just don’t care about if this amps sounds like a specific person tone. You just create and explore your own. Great approach. I watched several videos about this pedal and everyone was playing the same style, and I was thinking I wonder if Mark would try other tones and chords, ambient stuff. And here we have. Thanks!

  • Thanks for that very informative video Mark! I am expecting my Enigmatic on Friday and this will help a lot.

  • Wow there's a lot going on with this one. Currently a Dream owner so I'd love to see another video on how those compare or how you would use the various sounds in the Enigmatic.

  • Great intro! He should turn those into tracks with a band ????
    The pedals sounds great!

  • I was just thinking, "Why hasn't Mark reviewed the Enigmatic yet?" and there it was. Opening track was same as always….freakin' fantastic. And I'm not in the market for a amp-in-a-box, and yet, man, that sounds good. Hmm.

  • Those layers of Strat arpeggiations on the intro song reminded me of some of my favorite Agalloch compositions. Lovely playing!

  • Enigmatic coming tomorrow! I sold my Dream as it's replacement. I'll be running the Enigmatic, Ruby and Lion into my Duophony.

  • I have the following, ranked in order from most favorite to least: Enigmatic, Dream, Ruby, Lion.

None of them sound "bad" fwiw it all comes down to preferences.

The lion might still have a resurgence for when I start playing heavier tunes again.

  • Great review and explanation of the controls. I've now got this, the Dream and the Lion. Each of them is great in their own way. I feel like i have enough now to pretty much get any tone that appeals to me.

I've definitely spent more time rocking out on this pedal. It's seriously fun. I don't think i could pick a favourite though. Sometimes it's the beautiful trem and spring sounds that i want, so I'll reach for the dream. Other times i just want to ACDC rock out; grab the Lion.

This one is really hard to fathom out, mainly because i have no idea what it's meant to sound like. It definitely brings something to the table that no other pedal has, but somehow it feels alien. I think that's a good thing though. ????

  • I've been using the Ruby for gigs where stage volume is limited. I generally run it on the cleaner side and boost into it for overdriven tones. I like it but I'd love to get my hands on one of these to see how much headroom it offers vs. the Ruby. I also like the break up tones of this one a lot. Very different from the Ruby, Dream, and the Lion. Almost similar to the Woodrow in the low gain arena to my ears but then becomes its own thing when mid to hi gain is reached.

  • Interesting. I would've imagined the 'guts' of all these UAFX pedals is the same. If that's correct is this the most appealing because the Dumble is the most appealing amp, indicating the hype around them is real. Or is this in fact simply a job better done by UA Vs previous attempts? Incidentally I love the Dream, Ruby and Lion already so I'm absolutely a convert
