Is This $220 Squier Precision Bass Worth It?

Is this $220 Squier Bass from Fender worth it?? Let’s find out in this FULL Review from the Squier Sonic Series in 2023!

Go ahead and grab one of these basses yourself here: https://www.fender.com/en-US/squier-electric-basses/precision-bass/limited-edition-squier-sonic-precision-bass/0373901535.html

The signal chain is plugged direct from an Ampeg RB112 onto a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 in Logic Pro X. Using no plug-ins and a teeny bit of compression in playthroughs.

For strings I used on this demo: DR Pure Blues 45-105 Strings & GHS Precision Flatwounds 45-95 Strings

  • This bass sounds really great for the price, Squier has been killing it lately. I suppose you'll have to factor in the cost of lightweight tuners to cure the neck dive, and a pickup change (although I quite liked the aggressive tone of the ceramic) which would put this bass close to used Classic Vibe territory. I think it's worth it if you really like the color, plan to mod it, or just really want an 8lb P bass after a tuner swap.

  • A solution for neck dive is to use a super wide 3 inch or even 4 inch leather strap with suede on the back to grip your shoulder. It really fixes the problem.

  • First of all I love your channel. This is what it's all about, taking a good bass and making it even better. I love the maple neck idea!!!! A set of seymour duncan quarter pounder pickups and also install a Jazz pickup at the bridge ;position. upgrade to a greater mass bridge like a bada$$ bridge, change out the pickguard to a tortoise shell, get some German schaller tuners, install USA input jack from switch craft. now you are ready for Jazz rock fusion gigs!!

  • I have several high end basses. But, I've always wanted a Precision in seafoam green. My wife got me one of these for my birthday, and i love it! I would have no problems with paying it out!

  • would you say this is a good option for a first bass? i don’t know too much about about the pickups and i don’t wanna spend another few hundred dollars

  • Bought mine last weekend and it arrived today. The edge of the body has some finish damage that doesn’t affect the sound. If I can’t send it back for repair or replacement, I’m going to try to find somewhere local where I can get the finish repaired.

  • Fine review! I have the same model & color. Purchased directly from Fender when they had them for $199. I pretty much have the same response. The pickup is hot & has no finesse. Maximum P Bass Grunt! I've gigged mine about 6 times. Classic Oldie Rock. Ballsy but not Metal. The bass sounded OK & was capable of turning the air into cream cheese. Used much less live amp volume. Playability & set up were fine out of the box. Changed the strings to Thomastik flats. Almost like an old school P hard driving an Ampeg B15 amp. I want to swap the pickup out for a DiMarzio Model P. Yes! It's worth swapping the pickup out. This is a solid gigging workingman's P on a budget & a potential solid workhorse. Hard Rock,Metal & Punk players should find it useable as is. Great detailed honest review.????

  • Why do you play cheap basses? I have a weird thing about playing something really nice because……I don't know…… more character…… all I did was upgrade the pick ups ????

  • I love the color, and it definitely seems like a good deal for the price. Yes, you'll probably spend the same amount on a pickup upgrade, but then you still have a great looking and sounding bass for pretty cheap. (It's really nice that this comes with a satin finish on the back of the neck… I wouldn't have expected that.)

  • I'm the type that can't leave well enough alone so it's a great option for me because by the time I'm done the only original part left on it would be the green body

  • For that price it's great. Good modding platform and gives Harley Benton some competition. These are £160 here in the UK but I want that limited edition green. Waiting for new stock.

  • I heard that the neck of Sonic series breaks / twist / warps easily. I don't know if it's true or not.

  • Nice sounding bass and nice playing. Is the tuner and bridge the same as the affinity series?

  • Great review. Very nice looking bass. Can't wait to hear how it sounds with some mods.

  • I want one, I hope for an arctic white one. I have a black pickguard and a set of GFS P Bass pickups to do an easy swap
