One of the bands i despise
Flat wound strings would help
His last name is actually pronounced AHH-ment
Jeff a-Mint
Nope. Penus Paladenus does better.
No…
I mean he’s literally using a bass guitar with frets in the video
Great bass line. Not even in the stratosphere for best bass lines.
Tony Franklin is one of the best fretless bassists I've ever seen and heard. Check out his work on the "Storm ringer" cover he plays on with Joel Hoekstra, Dino Jelosic, and the great Virgil Donati on drums. The pinch harmonics he plays are crazy and sound amazing.
Crazy, in a good way, that someone can make a video about one note in a pearl jam song from a BASS. I hate pearl jam, like your videos though! woo
Ament doesn’t always get his flowers but the man’s in his 60s and PJ are still on top.
Nice Ibanez musician, Ibanez should bring that bass back into production.
Never knew this was fretless and I’m honestly ashamed because I should have known better with that slide. You can’t achieve that on a fretted bass.
Jeff Ament is a criminally under appreciated bassist. Thank you, Scott and Ian!
Who are some other modern rock players who play fretless? I can think of Juan Alderete but I don't know any others off the top of my head.
"It's not a TV studio, Josh!!!" In my humble opinion, THIS is the ultimate version of "Even Flow".
He played every note on existence????
If these guys are going nuts for that, maybe they should listen to Pedro Aznar during his time in Serú Girán…
Skid Row piece of me
The greatest is the one in the beginning of give it away
I love this fuckin song and bass line !!!.????????????????????????????????
So confused. I've been trying this for 2 days and I cannot get it. Every time I play the note and lift my fingers off to start sliding from behind the note, the note cuts out and it doesn't sound right. Is it just harmonics being played on or something? I'm terrible at bass btw lol.
yes
Long way for a short cut
He also has a very tasteful bass solo in Hold on. Always loved that one.
minizter of zoundz
says this note got me asking qestions about bass guitar ok this my only comment today so it got me into jACO PASTORIUS OK. THANKS FOR HAVING A WAY TOO TALK TOO A ARTIST OK AND THAT ENGLISH BASS THE WOOD ONE IS AWESOME …
YOURS SENCERLIY
MINIZTER OF ZOUNDZ
No. It’s not. Lol
Fretless bass, not the most common rock band instrument
There is this really cool I don’t even even know how to explain it if it’s like a classical Piece in Metallica to live is to die, and the bass part is literally just a slide and the most effective peace, he could’ve played
Honestly, I think the best slide is the iconic slide in Tommy The Cat, that slow slide up the B string and the lick after is so fucking legendary.
No
Yes , yes it is
the fun slides in the riff of Alive are fun also! but only 2 steps so I suppose not as epic
Im a beginner on bass but i tried that the first day i bought it and i dont play guitar ???? i guess music is a funny language
Ok……
No its not the best bass slide ????
What is that glove he’s wearing?
He made that album what it is playing frettless. It's badass.
Kinda is
