  • great video. Thank you all ! Personnaly I'd love to see Flea or Robert Trujillo. But I don't really mind how famous they are, as long as they play something cool

  • I don't quite know what to say , watching you guys be so amazed is kinda wierd. It's not exactly difficult … not a difficult song at all. So your kind of 'Oh wow!' reaction seems strange is all, like you've never heard anyone improvise and play along to a song before? And at the end you describe it as an "extraordinary bassline" – newsflash … it's not, it's actually pretty standard stuff for a bass player. I mean don't misunderstand me, he played it well cause' he's a pro and it was interesting to see his playing and ideas develop as he played, like at every change he learns a little more about the structure of the song and quits doing what doesn't work and adjusts things to what does work, (like at 6:22) and how he starts out playing quieter muted notes until he gets a measure of the song and starts playing more confidently and louder with open notes, although both are fine for different dynamics, i just prefered the open notes is all.

  • I doubt he would do it, but Geddy Lee would be great. Can you imagine how his brain would melt when you gave him a super funky "disco" type song to learn.

  • At the pop level, you could hand any professional musician (non-bassist) a bass, give them an hour, and tell them "figure it out" and they'd have something passable.

  • so funny listening to someone who (i think is pretending not to know) about music theory and then hear the real musician just talk basic music theory like "yeah, i mean it's to the tonic and a chromatic descent and you should listen to the song a couple times before playing it"

  • Finding out the bass line is not that difficult. Usually just take the root not of the chord. Little harmony involved. For a pop song it's even easier, since they follow the same chord progression 96% of the time.

  • OK… This is Chris Chaney we are talkin' about. Of course he has heard "Toxic". Pretty much everyone on earth has heard "Toxic". Still… Absolutely love what he did 😉

  • I don’t want to hear the original, that was too good! Do you think we could get Britney to re-record it with that bassline?
