Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) is from his Cantata BWV 147 and arranged here for classical guitar. This is a great piece for gigs such as weddings (for the signing or the bride). I tried to keep true to the original but also keep it simple enough to sight-read at gigs.
Here’s some more info via Wiki: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne) is the most common English title of the 10th movement of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life), BWV 147 composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1716 and 1723. A transcription by the English pianist Myra Hess (1890–1965) was published in 1926 for piano solo and in 1934 for piano duet. The British organist Peter Hurford made his organ transcription for the chorale movement as well. Today, it is often performed at wedding ceremonies as well as during Christian festive seasons like Christmas & Resurrection Sunday slowly and reverently. This is however, apparently in defiance to the effect suggested by Bach in his original scoring, for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings, and continuo. Written during his first year in Leipzig, Germany, this chorale movement is one of Bach’s most enduring works.

Even though this piece is way above my ability, I learned so much from it. Thank you Bradford. Your lessons, videos, and materials are amazing.
one needs to be 'sure footed' for this piece; that is, trust that your tapping remains constant. Or use a metronome ! I suffer from runaway tempo with this piece for sure.
thank you.
Started in on your arrangement two weeks ago. So glad to find you playing it.
Is this in drop D?
Beautiful job and arrangement.
Working on a more basic arrangement that I found years ago.

so I'm learning or practicing this song for Thursdays general recital and thought i would add the cross over trill. thank you for the free lesson. i have a lesson here that i made for my class i thought you beginner classical guitarist might like. Check out the classical guitar for beginners on my page.
thanks a lot. I love this melody
Very useful thanks. One point that could be made is the compound rhythm. The piece is 9/16 but the chords (which are the choral parts in the cantata) are played like dotted 4ths, and have more the feel of the ONE two three tempo
Thanks for your tutorial I’ll start following you! I like the feeling you convey to the listener and the way you teach
Great lesson and I appreciate the historical insights! The Córdoba really shined in your performance! C10?
