  • Seen John bunch of times mainly once or twice a year at Louisville Palace simply the best started seeing him at a smaller joint in Lexington Kentucky we would put our feet upon the rails and listen to him for hours had a lead guitar player from Ireland and I’ve never had a better time listening to a band or just listening to music than I had listening to John Prine I tear up every time I mention his name rip my brother and know you are so missed can’t say enough good things about him ❤✌️????????‍????????❤️

  • Wonderful interview. When John was in the hospital with Covid I avoided reading the newspapers – couldn't bear to read that he had passed.

  • Thank you Billy for sharing your great stories and memories of your life with John. I cried when it was announced that John had died from COVID, his music was so honest. My love to you and the family.❤

  • Great interview. I am 79 now and I heard his first album when I was in college and a girl I was seeing ran into my house one day waving it around proclaiming, "You have to listen to this album. It's fantastic." It was, and is, and I remain a fan of JP still. I saw him on his first tour in the chapel at Denison College with about 100 other people I saw him many times over the years. Two of the best were with Leon Redbone in Washington, DC in the 80's and with Iris Dement at the Birchmere in 1999. I don't have a brother and when he passed I felt as if I had lost the only one I had.

  • Love this one Otis! I'm from Muhlenberg county kentucky. Paradise is certainly a shell of its former self, but this land and people still have a lot of beauty in it. Thanks, Otis!

  • John was and still is my number one inspiration. The best compliment I have ever received as a singer songwriter was once when someone at a show told me one of my songs sounded a lot like John Prine. One of my life's regrets is not seeing John live. I was in my van headed south on US 1 in the Florida Keys when I heard on the news John had COVID. Even though I had sworn off flying, I made a vow to myself at that moment that if he recovered and did another show I would go wherever I had to go and pay whatever it cost to see him. When I heard he passed a few days later I was heartbroken. I wrote a tribute song to John that I play at every gig and will until I am gone. John was an asset to all of humanity. Thanks for sharing the memories Billy, you were a great brother!

  • Wonder why Dave Prine Johns older brother wasn't interviewed. Was he asked, but refused?

  • John Prine made the world a better place. A fan since 1974. Saw him many times. Illegal Smile, A Christmas in Prison. So many great songs. Easy to tell that John's brother, Billy, shares the same wonderful DNA. Thanks for all the memories. A great interview.

  • I miss him too, Billy (and never got to meet him!) His music touched me as a little kid on my transistor radio at night under the covers when my folks said “lights out” and put us to bed. The Tree of Forgiveness was such a gift to us all! ????❤️????

  • Thank you Ive been a real fan since the mid seventies after seeing him in a small club near Rochester New York
I even talked to him, he was such a great guy and always remember his stories he told about his songs as much as the songs, thanks again

  • First of ALL, Mr. Otis, thank you so much for doing this. I could listen to anybody talking about John forever. One thing threw me. Billy talking about John getting home to the kids while married to Rachel. I didn't know they had any kids. Well, it turns out, I couldn't find any evidence that they did. (I love to do research.) I found her obituary and no kids are listed. Comments? I love it when you said, "That's why we're here." Reeda is always very responsive to questions. Many thanks to you and Billy. He often replied to my comments on his FB page.
