Look,,,,, you're CLEARLY the best guitarist in the world. I've wished SOMEBODY,,,, ANYBODY,,,,, would teach Workin man blues the way James Burton played it on the original! All the great adlibs are cool, but to respect the Great Merle, I'd sure like to hear somebody duplicate the original!!!. ( By FAR, it's the best!!!!! Please, teach us how he played it? Note for note? I know he played it in the A cord, but used a capo on the 5th, and played an E position….. please????
Johnny is a protege. A living legend! Like Gatton had, savant-like ability! Unreal!
There are no mistakes, just opportunities to learn what not to do.
Country is way harder than jazz.
I've gotta buy that ten gallon rhythm guitar asap
Greatness
Johnny is the MAN!
Legend
8:05 SNL reference right there
I just came here for the intro lick but I feel as though I’m in over my head here ????
I loved it. Thanks
Maestro!!!
James burton
This is information you should be paying top dollar for..
I have always been of the opinion that those who are gifted with God given talent should share and teach their talent to those of us who are less gifted. Itzhak Perlman, for decades has shared his talent with those less fortunate in talent. Johnny Hiland carries on this tradition with a wonderful set of videos but he does it in a way that is geared for even a beginner. I am very obliged to Johnny for this and I am certain anyone learning this technique is as well!!
Great tutorial man, your an awesome player. Can I ask you a question, is that your normal fingernails on your picking hand, or did you use fake nails, lol
Johnny's right, that riff is a hard thing to play with the double bass notes! It took a couple of days and a lot of practice to get it so I can do it consistently, now I have to speed it up and learn to move it around like he does. What a talented guy!
He has since switched to a thumb pick. Thanks to the late great Nokie Edwards, he finally saw the light.
Very good….
JH! nice one! everyone wants to learn this…much harder than it looks! tricky to say the least. I know Matheus Canteri and you guys are great!
As far as I can tell this is a sixteen minute two second one-take video with no edits. What a guy
