  • Met him once, he was doing his dry cleaning. Down to earth, normal bloke. Extremely tall.
Little known fact: Jonny has struggled with hand injuries over the years which have forced him to avoid Van Halen-like dramatics and keep it simple. Still, his guitar work is brilliant and he's created some of the most recognisable riffs in modern music.

  • 12:57 Cemeteries of London is out of this world. His guitar solo really gives off a haunted cemetery vibe. It's literally perfection

  • Why is it that everyone I know who's never picked up a musical instrument think Coldplay are the best thing since sliced bread, and every musician I know can't stand them? Me, I'm on the fence. Jonny definitely has his moments, and for me the best Coldplay songs are the ones which put his guitar front and centre. But let's face it, Matt Bellamy from Muse is a league better than Chris & Jonny combined. Too much Coldplay sounds like Songs of Praise with the amps and tempo turned up a bit… maybe that's why so many people love it?? Coloratura is hands down amazing tho…

  • If I had a pound for every guitarist I know who has smugly taken great pleasure in telling me how shit they think Jonny Buckland is and Coldplay are I wouldn't have to work for a living. Not only are those pricks far too big for their own boots but they're wrong. They would do well to dump their meaningless, endless arpeggios and shreds and actually learn something from Jonny's restraint and tasteful song-oriented playing. What he does always works in the space and that's a real skill. He uses reverb and delay to tremendous effect. He's also written some of the most unassumingly iconic guitar lines in contemporary music. You get my vote Jonny Buckland ????????

  • Jonny's personality comes through in the way he plays guitar. He is all about making a song better and what he can contribute. Not what makes him look good but what makes the band look good. Complements Chris' personality so well which gets the best out of both of them.
All round talented, good guy who found what he was meant to do in the way he was meant to do it. Brilliantly and understated.

  • Who said guitar players need to perform 10 notes per second to be good? One note played with emotion is better than anything else. Thank you Jonny for making me cry with just one note. You're awesome man.
