36:14 would be highly interested in this high headroom clean Amp with Pedals in Front route that Lee mentioned here. How to stack your different overdrives for different Flavors. Like Pete said, running your Pedals with much less gain in this scenario. Personally I would love to see an episode featuring this in more depth.
I'm struggling to decide between the Marshall Studio JTM and an AC15.
My guess is the greenbacks need to see some appropriate volume to tame that rasp.
Marshalls do not have the best construction, but apparently due to the transformers and other specific items they use, they make the sounds that half of the indusry is still trying to copy. And 90 percent of them fail to succeed at this. Like Porsche, there is no substitute.
Tone king way too bright. No bottom end
There’s to much forehead on the Dane.
Now do one just like this with $700 USD spending cap 🙂
If cld have only 1, the JTM45. Natch????????
so basically same circuit, different looks
I bought the Deputy. It's got a strident tinny top end you can't really dial out. And a problem in the lower mids. I think it's going back. To me for the price the JTM Studio is a better sounding amp. Shame it doesn't have a master volume.
The Marshall Studio model sounded best to my ears. I know ya'll like the Victory but it sounds thin and hollow.
If you wanted a fair comparison to a Friedman, then you should have had it with the Twin Sister or the Dirty Shirley. Not the small box.
I'd take all five. They all sound great, with a board with overdrive and some reverb, you can gig any of them anywhere. I've been using an Origin 20 with an OCD and a Tumnus, and it just sounds great, and also takes about five minutes to set up and tear down.
FANTASTIC demo of these amps! And Lee and Pete – love you back.
Excuse me for talking, while you are interrupting me. Good communication is when you both do not speak at the same time.
Oof this is tough. After the all at 12s section, I like the JTM45 and the Friedman best.
Hey Pete, help me decide between Studio JTM and Little Sister for home use, mostly for cleans.
JTM45 2245 Vintage Reissue all the way.
Excellent run-thru and comparison. A lot of it comes down to personal opinion…so here's mine. The Friedman had the typical upper-midrange spike that I don't care for. The Victory, although very clear sounding, was also a little harsh for me. The JTM Studio surprised the heck out of me and sounded very similar to its big brother in many ways, but with a little more brightness and a little less girth. The Royalist is just a great amp, sounding similar to the Marshalls albeit maybe a little bit more refined with a bit more clarity. Add the extra features that you get with the Tone King like the 3 modes and dual Ironman attenuation makes it the winner and for me. By the way, I think the cab with Greenbacks is perfectly appropriate for these amps.
Does the Deputies Voice switch result in a similar result with Tone King Royalist's era switch?
i'm lost with the sound from the Marshall JTM 45 ❤
6:48 does anyone know the song this riff is from? I know I’ve heard it before but can’t pick out where!
I thought that little victory amp had the nicest clean tones and for me personally, I thought the JTM had the best tones for overdrive because it’s got more warmth and headroom to it. They’re all great though.
No offense, but these two guys really have to learn how to dail in a amp.
Little Sister all day.
I had the jtm studio combo sounding great but wasn’t anywhere late near loud enough with a loud drummer. It was a shame because it sounded great in my studio so then I brought out the plexi 20 W and it seem like it was louder and it could keep up with the drummer thinking of going for the 30 watt jtm 45. but maybe a 212 cabinet also on the fence of getting the blue breaker re-issue combo

Cranked I liked the Marshalls. I liked the additional high end for clean tones on the other amps. I think setting them all up edge of breakup and using a gain pedal sounded great.
What's the amp switcher called?
Leave the reverb OFF to compare. When you turn it on fast, for me it means the amp failed, because you reached for that something more. I'm a DS mini/ Twin Sister owner and what amazes me about those amps is that even on clean i LOVE how it sounds WITHOUT Reverb. Reverb only makes everything sound…better…more or less. But as good as it sound with it, I'm just as happy without it. Reverb becomes another option when you like, rather than a necessary evil to help cover for lesser than great tone on your amp. It's a huge difference, because I've had those other amps most my life as a player. And part of that success is not just the Friedman…it's all inspired by the JTM circuit. It's so musical and articulate.
Agree on the speaker selection. Greenbacks suck. Much prefer a Creamback, especially the new 75W version that is brighter. But also an Alnico cream is awesome! Change to a creamback and you have to do the comparison all over. Speaker selection makes a HUGE difference.
Disappointing that we didn't account for the difference in wattage (20w vs. 30w) from the beginning of the comparison.????
The JTM45 circuit (in whatever amp) is certainly a favorite and might be my ultimate favorite. It's just so musical. For the heaviest of gains, I might prefer a more JCM800 circuit, but otherwise, for clean and dirty up to heavy gain, I LOVE my DS mini / Twin Sister!!!
Please just stop with the Ox box.
The Victory doesn't have that low mid thump.
In regard to the "flub". A compensation of the EQ controls on the amp will absolutely remove that "flub"
A JTM circuit is a little spongey and looser on the lower frequencies anyway. They can also be a little wooley if you just set everything at 12 o'clock.
All of those amps are incredibly great !!
