  • Hi Alan, just aquired the same guitar (second hand) and really like it, though not used to playing a nylon string am finding the action a bit higher than expected. Could you tell me what the action is on yours at the 12th fret on the high and low E string please? Just discovered your chanel and have subscribed and will be following with great interst, I am 80 years old this year so have have similar trouble with the fingers as you. Thank you for all the information on strings etc.

  • Great video Alan. Is the Knobloch Double Silver Carbon CX 300ADC better or the D'Addario EJ45FF? I was looking at these two as peers for purchase and testing. Appreciate ur reply 🙂

  • Great review(s) ????I strung the Taylor up with a set of the Martin Magnifico Aquila strings, which I think is a great match. Warm and rich sounding. Keep in mind though, when trying these, to give these a long while to settle in. They tend to sound a bit brittle at first, but afer a week or 4, they change sound… strange, but true. I also like the looks.

  • Dear Mr. Hocking: How do you feel the sound is in these strings for example in relation to the D'Addario carbon in normal tension? I want to try them out and i'm using D'Addario carbon in normal tension and really like them. Are these Knoblochs warmer than D'Addario? brighter? Louder? More organic and natural sounding? Greetings from Mexico, excellent Saturday.

  • Alan, I bought my 12 e n about 4 months ago and just found your reviews. Really enjoying them. I recently switched out the dad high tension carbon strings for daddario normal tension Ej45 nylons, but noticed the dreaded d string second and third fret sound issues that so many classical guitars seem to have. So I have been experimenting with other daddario and savarez nylon strings that are high tension, since the high tension carbons that came with the guitar did not produce that problem. No luck yet. Maybe this guitar does better with carbon? I did not love the dadarrio carbons because they sounded metallic and shrill, and i prefer a softer more traditional classical sound, that is mellow, richer and full. So I really like my dad nylon treble strings, but need a bass set that sound soft and rich without the d string problems. I will look for the knoblch normal tension carbon strings you used here. How does the d string on fret 2 and 3 sound with them when playing isolated sustained notes?

  • Hi Alan, I tried the D'Addario carbons after your review and really like them. Just wondering, I notice the D'Addarios have a slight texture to them that nylon strings don't – to me, the carbons don't seem as smooth. Have you noticed this? Are the Knobloch any better or do all carbons just have a texture to them? Cheers!

  • Hi Alan, I think your guitar string videos are quite useful because there are many things people wonder about guitar strings but there are very few channels on Youtube giving information about guitar strings. That's why your guitar strings videos are very succesfull and I think In the long run, it will greatly contribute to the development of the channel

p.s. I saw this channel firstly while researching a guitar string for my father's guitar.
