  • Laney amps are underrated gems. I snagged a GH30R combo and will never get rid of it.
Another gem is the new LF Super 60 212 amp. Analog solid state that sounds so good.

  • I have the 2×10 inch speakers version and no Overall tone knob, just the mix effect knob. Love this amp but sounds better with a 1×12´speaker. The reverb tank died years ago and don't miss the thing at all.

  • owned a 95 vc-30 + ext cab as my first amp when they came out. it was a great amp, being a turd of a kid i traded it in for a blue voodoo half stack and immediately regretted it, fast forward 25 years, hunted one down and now its my bedroom amp and I love it.

  • I bought a VC15 recently. I am pretty happy with it, but I might change the speaker to a greenback. I paid 250 for it, not gonna complain xD the sound is great, I am still figuring out the EQ though. It is very dynamic as you say and it works nicely with pedals. I also own a Vox AC4 for home use, I wanted an AC15 but I couldn't get an used one for a nice price. Maybe some day. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  • My personal experience with Laney gear: Strange, much too intense, muddy, dull bass, too little treble reserves, lousy harmonics reproduction and a completely boring, lifeless sound, if compared eg. with Marshall or Orange amps. Tested some gear and almost instantly returned or sold everything again.

As fas, as I remember, the VC-30 is some sort of AC-30 "Laney-improved" clone, but I do not hear any authentic AC-30 "magic" here, so, if I really looked for these tones, I rather bought a real Vox AC-15 or AC-30 instead.

The VC30 nevertheless seems to sound better, than the Laneys, I already had (AOR, LA-Studio, IRT Studio, IRF Loudpedal), but also does not convince me much. All-world sounds, but nothing really outstanding at all for me.

For me Laney amps simply do not rock and I am no Tony Iommi, who obviously is able to make even so bad and unbalanced sounding amps rock enough, however he manages this.

  • Used to own this amp, as well as a VC15, Cub 8, and IRT-X. I had the parallel effects loop changed to serial and the control knob changed to a master volume. It was way too loud for my situation, so I sold it. It did sound killer, though.

  • If you would stop speaking in ad speak- it would help tremendously- you come off like a used car salesman bud. Normal ppl don't talk like that- I would never tell a friend "Yeah, this amp delivers these possibilities in a compact format." If I did, they would be like "What ad are you reading from?" and then they would tell me- "Just tell me what you think of it, in your own words man." It sounds like you're scripting these videos out- which is why they sound so formal and like an advertisement from the maker, not a review from a user. If I were you, I would try making a couple with no script, talking like I talk every day to the guys I play music with. Then it will sound sincere, and ppl won't think you're just doing an ad for Laney.
