It’s starting to feel like you’re the guy to pay for lessons
Be nice to redo this video for some better audio
Its nice to go back after a decade hes taugh me with the modes.
It's 2021 and it was YT video suggestion. ????
This is by far my favourite video Rob did. I understood the modes perfectly after watching this.
Hope you’re doing well!!
Are my modes ok? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PON8czeG4sg
i meant to like this 15 years ago
Rkkd
After a decade of failing to understand or even grasp the concept of modes, this video – which I watched 3 years ago – has completely changed the way I approach the guitar, or any instrument for that matter, and my songwriting/improvisation knowledge. Thank you Rob
Still my go to video on modes
Thank you!
title should be learn about modes in 15 just mins…you cant "learn" the modes in 15 mins…
Modes are named after regions in ancient Greece, not tribes.
Major eye opener!Thank you so much Rob!
Hey Rob, brilliant video I've not heard such a good explanation anywhere else, keep up the great work.
For many of us who struggle with modes particulaly in different positions up and down the fretboard I did find this really useful app on the android store “guitarSoloist”. It shows all the notes on the fretboard for any of the modes over any chord/key. I found it really useful, it also shows the chord tones and is free and ad-free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=g9.smt.guitarSoloist
do caged system is applied to modes..?
Still Two of the best videos on the whole of YouTube, Just watched your Christmas Vid on the Haters Rob, Listen, Mate, these two videos alone make your channel a legend, your achievements in Business are also incredible, Happy new year mate from a long-standing viewer who appreciates still these stellar lessons.
Ahh vintage Chappers
Was up from 2019
11 years ago! Fun!
drugs sent me here lol
I'm picking the guitar up again after a long hiatus (over 12 years) and theory I've always struggled with, this time around I want to know more and this has helped, you can hear the difference when you dropped down. Best explanation I've heard on this cheers ????
I've watched it a few times now and have a question: so your first scale starts on E then the second one drops to D, I tend to think of modes as ascending ie the next logical one to me would be F#? I know chromatically it all starts again then again and continues going around, hope my question makes sense.
watching an 11 year old video after 4000 mode videos still not understanding why modes work the way they do and how they actually interact with other chords in the scale…
also rob you had long hair?
Best explanation of modes on YouTube! Thanks Mr. Chappers.
Man! There's a tear In my eye I am ur life servant like morgin freeman in Robin Hood! I hav bin struggling with modes for forever! I thought I was never going to figure them out and my playing wasn't getting any better. As soon as I did the first mode change, I yelped out and and rejoicing. U have saved my soul I owe u my LIFE! Hahahah but wow man unbelievable I am truly grateful. why didn't everybody else not say that I think secretly it was like a martial arts secret and nobody was supposed to say like Bruce Lee teaching Americans. Thanx Bruce my mode training is complete I can now go into the world of Master guitarists. Glad u chopped the locks I havnt finished the video yet it was as soon as I heard the first 3 notes with the E ringing that's when I saw the light and had to stop to say ya beauty and thank God I mean you ur majesty king lordship ur honour my king.
Pompous Ionian gets, everyone knows Mixolydian is the posh life, bruv.
Thanks for the video. I love the guitar and amp selection. Those are mine too. Great for progressive deathmetal. Cheers
John Lennon.
Best explanation ever!
I am not a human being. I am a meat Popsicle.
Clapton had a youtube channel!!!!????????????????
This is ten years old but it still helps so much
Finally, when a guy gets hands on and stops counting, just showing us, then I finally get it
6:50, a smile came to my fac
Wow chappers. I was a freshman in high school when this was uploaded.
now this is the classic rob chapman lessons i can learn from…. 2018 all ya get is the business side of things…. still dont change my opinion – robs awesome, not my fav, but i have to have a MLV to complete myself before i can go on !!!!!!! – and i havent even seen or played one – yes i have a guitar collectors addiction, but this is a guitar shredders addiction…. i may need 2 mlv's !!!!!!
Absolutely awesome explanation of modes! Thanks Rob!!
For me, that had to be the best and easiest lesson on modes I have watched to date.
Are you Jesus?
How Rob looked ten years ago hahahah, that hair tough.
What's frustrating with tutes like this is they're too long. I end up looking for a different tutorial, as I did with this one, to save time.
When I come looking for modes, I just want to know what the different modes are and how you derive each scale, given a key and a mode. That's all I want to know. Anything else is just wasting time.
Did you just call me out for not being a human?
Oh my Gooodness, thank you! I've listened to so many videos, but showing me by thumping on that one E string makes it so much clearer than playing these impressive grandiose virtuoso solo pieces where my ears can't really pick up what's happening. Thanks again. I get it now.
You bloody legend! Thanks for this.
Does the same idea work in drop C?
So, to cut a long story short, we play the G Aeolian mode shape, starting on G# and hey presto we are playing E Lydian. Is that correct?
I like this guy, not the Ponce of 2017
Thanks Rob. Been watching Andertons for years and just came across this explanation of modes…very helpful! You helped train my ear by adding the drone note.. mind blown! Wish you all the best with your business ventures too!
