This song is one of the most famous rock and roll songs of the 50s!
It is basically a blues in Bb, played with a straight eights feel.
We have the opening solo, then verses, two choruses solo, verse and end.
The style of Chuck Berry is heavily based on the blues, and it includes pentatonic scales, bending, double stops, slides, blue notes and more.
It is interesting to notice that he mixes the major and the minor pentatonic.
I used just downstrokes with my pick in order to get a more “original” sound.
The sound of his Gibson electric guitar is crunchy and I think it comes from a tweed Fender amp.
Gear wise I have my Epiphone Sheraton II with Seymour Duncan AlNiCo pick ups straight into the Top Boost channel of the Vox AC15HW.
