This is an easy Greensleeves arrangement for classical guitar. I wanted to include one well know popular melody with simple bass accompaniment to compliment the other Renaissance-Romantic works. Greensleeves is a traditional folk song and tune of England. A ballad, A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves was registered by Richard Jones at the London Stationer’s Company in September 1580, and the song is found in many 16th and 17th century sources, such as Ballet’s MS Lute Book. Christmas and New Year songs and lyrics have also been associated with this tune from as early as 1686, and by the 19th century many collections of Christmas carols included some version of words and music together. One of the most popular of these songs is What Child Is This?, written in 1865 by William Chatterton Dix.

  • I used to play many years ago and knew this piece by heart. Thank you so much for including the correct right-hand pima fingering, I had forgotten how it was played! Definitely going to get your book as I rediscover classical guitar.

  • In the second from the last bar, the G and F notes are sharped in the first version (without TAB), but not in the version with the TAB. The fingering in the TAB indicates they should be sharped and the sound also indicates they should be sharped, too. Was this a misprint?

  • I am playing this song in my high school guitar class. The sheet music is slightly different and the bass line is different but it's so fun to play

  • While I appreciate the effort you make, you're playing an F# on the melody? Surely it should be an F?

  • I play mostly flute, clarinet, and bassoon. However I like to dabble in classical guitar. I was at a grade 2 or 3 but I have been out of practice for a long time.

  • There's no doubt about it, you're are an amazing, wonderful and totally professional classical guitar tutor.
    Easy to understand, Easy to read and most importantly, easy to play, giving much personal enjoyment and feeling of accomplishment.

    In less than a week you had me playing quite a few of the easy pieces, sight reading the notations (not Tab), from nothing.
    I went through Volume 1, then first three Keys of Volume 2, purchased the Easy Classical Guitar pieces and the sheet music for Lagrima ( Tear ) – Francisco Tarrega, and started playing the beautiful sounding pieces.

    One does not have to be a rocket scientist, to see that a lot of thinking, hard, well organized work effort, and natural talent, has gone into this program to produce these quality lessons.

    Will I ever be a professional classical guitarist – No never – I'm an Accountant – I do this only as a hobby – a very enjoyable one.
