  • Dear Nik Nocturnal,

I really enjoyed your in-depth review of Linkin Park’s new song, the Emptiness Machine. I really like how you analyzed the song, specifically how you compared it to the album Minutes to Midnight. It follows a very close vocal and instrumental pattern. I agree with your opinion that Emily Armstrong isn’t trying to replace Chester by imitating his exact style. Although some people are saying that her voice, because it’s gritty, is imitating Chester, I believe the style is her own. It wouldn’t be Linkin Park without the gritty style. I feel that Linkin Park’s choice to add her to the band was good because her vocals are her own yet still follow Linkin Park’s style. I also agree with you that it would really enhance the song if Emily and Mike were to sing the last chorus together. In the second verse you get to hear some of the harmonies, and it would be interesting to hear more of that. I’m looking forward to the release of their new album to see what else they bring to the table. Thank you for giving an openminded review and not just hating on the changes because everyone else is.

    Thank you,
    Kieren Poff

  • I love her voice and I already love this song. I think she fits perfectly and I am excited to see where they go with her. I think the haters are just stuck in the past. It's been 7 years it's time to move on to something new. Changing the band name would have erased Chester so that would be a stupid move. Going with someone who sounds like him would actually be just mimicing him and that would not bring anything new I feel that they made the right decision

  • I am digging it. I never stopped liking Linkin Park, just haven't listened in a while, it brought them back into my active playlists when I realized how much I missed them, and definitely wanted more. I think there are some great things yet to come from this band. I wish more of the original members wanted to be part of it, but I get it, they moved on.

  • I thought this song would fit perfectly in Minutes To Midnight. I love the show, even that they tuned up for her. The new song is a banger. I am just so happy that they are back. Not my favorite band ever, but I'll never not listen them and enjoy their music

  • Clicked this video because you used the word « Review » instead of « ReAcTioN » with the classic retarded youtuber shocked face thumbnail. And that was a very very good analysis. Definitely worth my click and my time. Subbing! I would definitely like a full album review when it’s fully released. ????

  • Imagine if Taylor Swift or Rhiana was the new singer for Suicide Silence, Lorna Shore, Slaughter To Prevail. It wouldnt be the same, and would be disrespectful to the fans. I havent felt so betrayed since betrayal since General Shepherd Killed Ghost & Roach in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

  • Speaking of "sounding like Chester", anyone heard about Hybrid Theory, a portuguese LP tribute band? worth looking out

  • Its not linkin park anymore. Change the name. Hate when bands do this.

Same with skid row. Change your name.

  • I'll just say that linkin park have become what they are cause they never shied away from experimenting new things. I still remember when they started to drift away from the nu-metal of the first two albums and a lot of us were complaining (me included). Thats the exact same thing they're doing now: avoiding the safe route to express themselves.

Also, i do recall how Chester used to suck pretty bad live the first few years, and then he became this amazing vocalist through hard work, so yeah, anyone can improve when given enough time, so let's juat wait and see…

  • I'm waiting to make a full opinion on Emily until i hear the full album. In this song, i love her voice. It's a very fun song. I think she will be a good fit for the band, and it's a new direction for Linkin Park. She will obviously never fill the shoes of Chester Bennington, so i think she's trying to just be herself, which I really appreciate.

  • She ain't Chester, she can't be Chester.
    But she's good.
She should just follow and respect the legacy.

  • what if….. the whole album is about Emily's personal story.. and experiences being in a cult . 🙂

  • I'm not gonna lie, I hate it. Boring recycled linkin Park song, sounds like I'vee heard it before. The band didn't need to come back. I'll try the new album maybe, but i hope the other LP fans that want this are happy, at least.
Sorry to be negative but i took a while to get past chesters passing and seeing the band dug up from the grave feels like a cash grab

  • it would be really cool if after the album they made a song with sykes and sam carter who were inspired by chester. both of them can do heavy and have pop sensibilities to balance it out

  • Might as well say that Linkin Park is now "Pretty Reckless" all the way around when they picked someone like Emily and her past that Chester's son calls out Mike for not only disrespecting and erasing Chester's legacy because Emily is the opposite of everything Chester represented.

  • I really love the new song. It's just that hearing her sing Chester's songs makes me sad ????

  • I'm fine with her being the new vocalist, the new track is solid. Not like, amazing, but you know it's fine. The PROBLEM is her trying to sing their older songs. She just… can't. What they should have done is have her do the lyrics and vocals on old tracks in her own way that meshes with the music instead of doing a bad kareoke Chester impression.

  • I was hoping LP would return to the heavier days of Linkin Park. They didn't. The post-Meteora style wasn't for me 20 years ago and it didn't change since. Sucks but what can you do?

  • seen it live in youtube stream in the middle of the night. love it. Childhood backflashs, crying for chester, crying in love and hope, wait for the Album :3

  • im so glad you understand the sound of linkin park. everyone buggin that the new singer is not chester so it doesn't sound like linkin park have not one musical bone in their body.

  • So, I think she's done a decent job covering their previous work in concert. I like that they sound so different and unique to their previous work rather than fill a void that you're not possibly ever going to cover.
