Lorenzo Feliciati Releases “Kamayan” with New Trio Project – No Treble

Daniele Chiantese, Lorenzo Feliciati, Kristian Terzic: KamayanBassist Lorenzo Feliciati has unveiled a new trio project called Kamayan, which is Filipino for “sharing”. The group includes drummer Daniele Chiantese and pianist/keyboardist Kristian Terzic, and together they craft a music described as a “declaration of love for electric jazz” with influences from Weather Report, Pat Metheny Group, and Yellowjackets.

Aside from his stellar bass playing, Feliciati contributed seven of the eight compositions for the album, with the eighth (“A Journey’s End”) being written by Terzic.

“he bass lines prepare the melodies on which Terzic gives his best, deploying a sample of harmonic progressions and enviable sonorities,” a press release states. “The Croatian keyboardist, accustomed to overseas acquaintances for years (Simon Philips, Giulio Carmassi, Mike Miller), had already highlighted his talent in his first solo album. Not least the contribution of Daniele Chiantese; his drumming outlines the work of his companions, using crashes and rides with equal skill, fundamental in this genre of music.”

Feliciati’s fretless work on the album showcases his rich tone, soulful melodies, and creative bass lines. Get a taste of the record with “Tech”:
