  • what he said, a bad player can make the best guitar sound horrible and the best players can make a bad guitar sound great

the headstocks in the thumbnail shows you put a vintage decal on the mim? looks much better

  • The only reason to custom your guitar is to buy or not noiseless pickup if you don't like the hum sound. Then Squier Fender…especially for a Strat is almost the same. Quality of amp is much moore important.

  • Loved the video, thank you – can't tell the difference! Very often perceptions of what is better are psychological, because of preconceived notions and peer & market influences. Ultimately it's what you play and how well you play it.

  • I'm actually getting discouraged. I have a great collection of guitar and equipment, including some $3k Fenders, G&L and PRS. But recently picked up a used Harley Benton TE20 HH for a project guitar but found I didn't have to do a thing to it and it's become my daily player, I love it !
    Thanks for your vids ????

  • I wish you could've added in the squire prior to the upgrade so we could hear them back to back and really hear the difference

  • I expiramented on a squire i had one time. It was one of my favorite guitars, pretty much cuz i could go crazy with the whammy bar and as long as I give the bar a tug every time i used it before i started playing again it would still be relatively in tune. It stayed in tune better than my 40th anniversary fender strat us, or my gibson les paul. I put the american pups and electronics in the squire. It was a player from hell. A real work horse.

  • I know someone who simply got a Fender decal for their Squire. Now everyone thinks the guitar sounds so much better.

  • hot take but I honestly really dig the look of the pickups without the covers. Might do this with my cheapo knockoff fender.

  • I guessed right each time, the Fender sounds slightly more pleasing, especially the high tones. But great value. Would've been interesting to hear them compared to the original pickups too.

  • for the first two blind tests, I noticed that there was more transient information in the Fender version. that was until I was thrown off by the 3rd blind test, which I noticed that the Squier version had more transient information.

  • Toss in another 5$ and put a orange pill or vitamin T capacitor, and it'll definitely sound like a 800$ guitar

  • man this videos will make me sell all my guitars buy one squier cheap and thats it

  • Does somebody know where I can buy the black squire? I can only find this one whit a bright neck but I would love one like this with a dark neck <3

  • Mixed results, the blind test was the Fender on test 1 & 3, while the Squire on 2. I say buy a fender if you want it as an investment type and leave it as is, but a squire if you want to mod and play it everyday.

  • All 3 tests, the Squier, was cleaner. So, either you don't set your Amp properly or you're not a clean player.

  • Where you ever able to find pickup covers to fit those pickups? I don’t remember ever seeing covers in different pole spacings.

  • I think squier has Alnico 2 stock, so just switching to Alnico V makes it chimier.

If it matters, it will be on clean, because with gain or distortion there's more tone generating from the pedal or amp than pickups.

  • Yeah with those pickups and some good fret work, the Squier would be in good shape. That neck is looking rough, but those frets could be polished up good. I'm having neck work done on one of my old Ibanez guitars and I'm excited to see how it turns out.

  • It's very very slight but the Fender does sound richer and the Squier sounds a little Plastic compared to the Fender which is to be expected of course however it's just a slight difference. In the end your skill and your amp is just what matters aswell as your preference ????

  • I was wrong 2 out of 3 blind tests, but I was only guessing. Couldn't tell the difference. I have a 70's Takeharu Strat which is gorgeous and upgraded the pickups to a Wilkinson Alnico SSS loaded guard. If it sounds just like a strat or not (which I think It does) doesn't really matter but it's the best sounding ST I have ever played or heard.

  • ive built custom guitars and found some unbranded copies/versions are indeed very good…ie found set of humbuckers that when tested were as good as some vintage Dimarzios ive got…cheap were 30 quid uk…and thats just an example
