  • Exciting hint: The MarkBass CMB 121 Blackline and the Cort CM150B are identical amps. I wonder who builds what for whom? 😉

  • I was looking for an amp that is very good for practice, at least useable for small club gigs, won't dominate the living room, and isn't crazy expensive. It looks like this one checked all the boxes! so I picked up one of these the other day at the Guitar Center, currently on sale. Great little amp! not too big, not too heavy, not too expensive, and makes a bass sound like a bass. The only ding- the fabric speaker cover doesn't protect the speaker well, and it makes a floppy noise. Ask me how I know – I took the cover off and the noise went away! I would have paid $20 more for a metal grille. (Markbass are you listening?)

  • I tried every bass amp in GC today. Clearly, this CMB 121 stood out. It held it's own- at low volumes to any and all bigger and pricier amps. It's a winner. I preferred the LOOK of the Ampeg and the weight of the Rumble but I would drag it home and it would not move. I don't gig really. So for me, the tone is just perfect- what Bass should sound like. I practiced a few riffs- Money and Radar Love and did not mess them up, like I do at home…because I could hear and feel the proper tone which guided me. At home, I play it unplugged. I can't play really though- mostly I play guitar.

  • 12" speaker, not a 15", everyone I've played with, especially drummers, say the same thing about my markbass combos (cmd 121P +- 121 ext cab; I can hear you better w/ that than the rumble or the ampeg or the GK, and I can hear myself better.

  • Great video, and you two work really well together! ❤
That said, I heard of Mark Bass from Ellen Plays Bass! [Ellen Alaverdyan and her Dad, a killer guitarist] I LOVE that their bigger amps have a mid-high driver. That would really spell out the harmonics that all Basses have! Back in my day, a friend had a Rickenbacker, 4001. It was LOADED with harmonics, and sounded really transparent.

  • Just a note for anyone else that is confused, they mention that the Markbass CMB 121 in the video has a 15 inch speaker, but it doesn't, it has a 12 inch speaker. This is why they compare it to the Fender Rumble 100, as that also has a 12 inch speaker.

If anyone is after the 15 inch speaker version of the MarkBass then Andertons also stock this, and it's called the CMB 151, and is a bit taller, and a bit heavier, but still 150W.

Otherwise, lovely energy and playing as always!

  • I'm confused, i heard no major difference in tone when the eq settings were being played with.

  • I love the punch and lightweight of Markbass cabs. I just never liked the tone of those heads. I use a GK head to get that GROWL.

  • Ahhhh. If by 15 you mean 12, then you are right!!! It’s a 12 inch speaker lad, wanted to advise. Take two!!! SAS!!! And rumble sucks!!! Mass production gonna make you replace it sooner than that Markbass that is made in Italy, not china. Better components and handmade. I’d take that any day. Oh and Ampeg, worse. Not even worth me talking about!!! Just saying. Oh, 12 inch!!! ???? y’all be safe.

  • Well I'd rather have a real amp than a Rumble. This one sounds pretty good. Very clean but not too cold. I'm considering it…I've got my eye on an Orange Crush as well but I'm not sure it can do soul/jazz/blues as well as it does rock. Idk I might need both ????

  • Disappointed with the bad info given in this demo. It would be impossible to squeeze a 15" speaker in that MB cab. Especially seeing the rumble right next to it. If somehow they could squeeze it in it would be a bad design.

  • Do you think the 121 is good enough for jamming? Some alternative rock, funk and classic rock?

  • love the channel and the jam, but should maybe play BOTH of the amps your comparing, no? Also, why not compare the markbass to the rumble 200 since it is also a 1×15?
